Locate studs in wall and mark stud locations on wall molding. Drill 3/8" hole through channel in wall molding at every other stud location, approx 32" on center. See diagram 2a. Position wall molding on wall and mark holes. For wood mount drill 1/4" pilot holes for lag bolts. For brick mount drill 5/8" holes in brick then insert lag shields into holes in brick. See diagram above. Hint: Where possible locate lag bolts near awning rafter locations. 3 4 5 Position wall molding on wall surface and insert 3/8" lag bolt into each hole and tighten bolt. Caulk top of wall molding to wall surface. Connect each end rafter to wall molding. Insert eye-end of each rafters into jaw-stub on wall molding. Connect front bar to end rafters. Tighten set screws in corner elbows. 6 7 8 Connect remaining rafters to wall molding. Insert eye-end of each rafter into jaw-stub on wall molding. Connect opposite end of each rafter to front bar and tighten set screws in T-fittings. Raise front bar with rafters attached and insert top of upright into t-fitting and tighten set screw. Plumb each upright and attach base flange and tighten set screw. Anchor base flange of each upright to patio or deck surface. VERSION 1 - 3/07 © 2007 QUEEN CITY AWNING Installation Instructions - Fabric Awning Cover wall molding awning cover 1/2" rod carriage bolt finger clip 1 2 3 Remove awning cover from storage bag and position on top of frame rafters. Spread awning cover across rafters and insert 1/2" rod into pocket at top of awning cover. Position awning cover with rod in pocket into top channel of wall molding. Tighten carriage bolt on each finger clip to secure 1/2" rod. See diagram above. Pull awning cover over front bar, start at each front corner of awning frame, insert zip ties thru tie band loops and around front bar, then pull zip ties tight. Continue to secure cover along front bar with zip ties about every 10 inches or closer if needed. 4 5 6 Secure awning cover at each end raf- Secure front awning valance to side ter with zip ties starting at front and awning valance at each corner by working to the rear of the awning. inserting zip ties thru bungee straps. Continue to insert and tighten zip ties until cover is drum tight, then cut off each excess length of zip tie. Wrap velcro straps on underside of awning cover around rafter of awning frame and secure. 7 8 9 Secure back of each side valance to valance stabilizer bar with black zip ties. Attach optional SunSpot Side Curtain to end rafter with black zip ties. Secure front of side curtain to front of awning valance at bungee straps with black zip ties. Next secure back of side curtain to stabilizer bar with black zip tie. Attach optional SunSpot Solar Screen to tie band on inside of side curtain with zip ties. If attaching SunSpot Solar Screen to front of awning insert zip ties thru loops at top of solar screen and around front bar of awning frame. VERSION 1 - 3/07 © 2007 QUEEN CITY AWNING Removal Instructions - Fabric Awning Cover wall molding awning cover 1/2" rod carriage bolt finger clip 1 2 3 Fabric awning cover can be removed for seasonal storage. Before removing awning cover for storage make sure the fabric is clean and dry. Awning frame can remain in place all year. Undo velcro rafter straps. Cut zip ties at each corner of awning cover and at back of each valance side. Cut zip ties along front bar and each end rafter. Loosen finger clips and pull awning cover out of wall molding. Slide 1/2" rod out of awning cover pocket and place 1/2" rod back into wall molding to store it, then re-tighten finger clips. See diagram above. 4 5 Remove awning cover from frame and lay flat. Inspect awning cover and remove any dirt or debris. Fold awning cover and place in storage bag. Store in a cool, dry place. VERSION 1 - 3/07 © 2007 QUEEN CITY AWNING
