It was a family reunion for the Dudley’s with Monique’s son Jonathan being home with his
one-year old son Daniel for the 33rd Monique Dudley Memorial Golf Tournament. Jonathan
was last here for this tournament in 2012. Jonathan along with his brother Travis were here to
make the drive for the ladies on the long par 5 11th Hole often saving a team two strokes on
the hole.
Jonathan and his wife Annie of five years have a son, Daniel Abram Dudley who turned one
on April 2nd. He was named after Monique’s brother Daniel Belanger fondly referred to as
“Mon Oncle” and Abram comes from Annie’s side of the family, his Papa South. Jonathan is
Center Manager for GOLFTEC in Raleigh, North Carolina. He teaches over 2000 golf lessons
a year. His wife Annie is an Aesthetician at Duke Medical Center. They live in Whitsitt, North
Carolina. Travis, brother of Jonathan Dudley, works as an electrician with Mike's Electric and
lives in Glover. Travis’s wife Pattie of five years is a Home Health Nurse. They have a
daughter Taylor who is 5 years old and entering kindergarten at Glover Community School
this fall. Travis is a member of the OCC Board of Directors following in the footsteps of his
Uncle Chuck Dudley and Grandfather Dick Dudley. The committee truly appreciates the
support these young men have given to this tournament.
One hundred ladies made their way to Orleans Country Club on Sunday, June 26th and five
thousand dollars was raised for the fight against breast cancer.
Coming in with a 73 gross best ball were Andrea Brown and Carla Desnoyers of Champlain
to win the A division; second gross went to Sheila Darrah of Copley and Carol Lisai of
Williston with a 74; third gross with a 75 went to Annie Barron and Mari Harter of Orleans.

and Donna Bennett of Maynard, MA; 58 – Kathy Sikora of West Bolton and Ann Rainey of
Country Club of VT. Longest drive winners were Wendy Leithead of Orleans and Brook
Daniels of Orleans. Closest to the pin winner was Andrea Brown of Champlain on Hole #3 at
5 feet 3/4 inches.
The Monique Dudley Memorial Golf Tournament was initiated 33 years ago. Monique
enjoyed golf and participated at the "higher handicap" levels. The Monique Dudley Memorial
Golf Tournament recognizes Monique’s love for the game by declaring the low net team from
the tournament field as the Tournament Winners. In memory of Monique, the team with 1st
net from the entire tournament field is chosen as the overall winners. Mickey Potwin and
Kathy Gaudreau of Lake Morey hold this honor with a 55 net. Their names will be engraved
on the memorial plaque, which hangs in the OCC lobby.
There were over 75 donated silent auction prizes and sponsorships, with all proceeds from
the tournament going to the fight against breast cancer in memory of Monique. A raffle of a
beautiful Fall Magic Star King Size Quilt made by Ellen Grimes of South Burlington was won
by Carol Lisai. Following the luncheon was a Mystery Pink Bag Raffle where three prizes
were up for the winner’s choice. The choices were a Pink Bag from our PGA Pro, Josh Olney
with multiple pink gifts from his shop valued at over $75, an Ogio Ladies Golf Bag
compliments of Eva Mastalos and a fun golf themed gift package from Jane Limoges of
Newport.
Exclusive gratitude goes to Hayes Ford out of Newport for supporting the tournament with a
hole-in-one opportunity to win a Ford Fiesta. All par threes had hole-in-one prize prospects
ranging from a shopping spree, fairway woods, and a stay and play vacation at a luxury
resort. This truly added to the excitement of the day and the ladies tried their best to make it
happen. Although there were close calls, we’ll have to wait for another year.
All of the OCC men acknowledged here went above and beyond the call of duty pitching in
wherever they were needed truly adding to the success of the overall day. Recognition goes
to Chad Williams, OCC superintendent and the greens crew, who made sure there was a
competitive golf course in great condition. Josh Olney, PGA and Bob Horton provided our
outstanding pro shop support. Jamie Barron, Bruce Reed, JR Ryan, Mark Tinker, Paul
Racine and Mark Faust were tremendous assistants to the committee the morning of the
tournament setting up all the special tournament signs and canopies. Jamie and Bruce were
also our Hayes Ford hole-in-one witnesses for the Ford Fiesta on the 10th par 3 Hole. In
addition, Mark Faust provided our ladies with homemade maple candy treats for the “Sandy
and Putt” part of our game. Gib Trenholm manned the 8th Hole for the “Double your Pro Shop
Credit by Landing on the Green”. A much-appreciated special assistant to the committee was
Deborah Simpson. The professional staff of the Orleans Country Club Restaurant provided
the players with a delicious luncheon. A beautiful setting in pink, pink and more pink decked
out the dining room along with the table favors, which were stem less wine glasses with
lettering honoring the 33rd Monique Dudley Memorial.
The committee really gave their best effort to make the 33rd anniversary an extra special day!
Committee members are Irene Farrar, Terry Dudley, Judy Tinker, Judy Martel, Carol
Boucher, Jane Horton, Bev Gage, Karen Bennett, Annie Barron, and Patty Middlebrook.
