SPECIALIST GLAZING
FOR HOUSES
With the demand for more modern
and contemporary homes, growing
in recent years, Architects have
been keen to introduce more
glazing into their house designs.
Often this involves large
uninterrupted areas of glass where
they try to integrate the outside
with the inside of the building.
We have been involved in many
such projects in recent years,
providing glazing solutions such as:
Large Framed Panels
Frameless Glazing
Butt-jointed Double Glazing
Full Glass Lobbies
We can provide bespoke solutions
and design advice for each
individual project including choice
of glasses, sealed units with high
u-values, structural designs to cater
for wind and barrier loads and a
range of slim frames.

BALUSTRADES / STAIRCASES /
GLASS FLOORS
BALUSTRADES
The use of glass in balustrades can
add a spectacular effect to a
balcony, staircase or walkway in your
home or commercial building. This
transparent guarding gives a
fantastic sense of space and light,
maximising views and adding a very
modern feel to any property.
Glass balustrades come mainly in
two categories. Free standing glass
barriers use the strength of the glass
as the sole means of providing
protection. The glass is fixed to the
floor and supports a hand-rail. There
are no other posts to assist the glass
in resisting any applied loads. The
glass can be bolt fixed or glazed into
a channel (can be exposed or
recessed).
Alternatively glass is used as an infill
material in barriers constructed from
posts and hand rails (mild steel,
stainless steel, timber etc). The
posts and rails provide the main load
bearing capability, with the glass
performing the function of filling in
elegance
the gaps between the posts to
prevent people falling through.
At Topglass we have years of
experience in the design,
manufacturer and installation of all
types of glass balustrades for a wide
variety of locations.
The correct glass and fixing methods
are critical. Our experienced team
can provide a full service including
Design and Engineering, digital site
survey, autocad drawings,
manufacture, and installation.

STAIRCASES
To complement our range of glass
balustrades and glass floors, we
offer a range of staircase
solutions involving glass only, or
glass with other materials such
as steel, timber and stone. We
constantly strive to push the
boundaries of design and
engineering to provide our
customers with bespoke and
high specification featured
staircases, including single flight,
spiral, or multi-flight with mid
landings.
GLASS FLOORS
Glass flooring can add a
spectacular effect to almost any
building, creating more light and
space, not to mention the
excitement that comes with walking
on such a material. Glass flooring
can be used for voids, walkways,
bridges, stairs and even roof lights.
It can be used both internally and
externally.
Topglass Contracts have designed
and installed many adventurous
and challenging glass floor
solutions over recent years from
cantilever stair treads to a total
glass bridge. From thoughtful and
creative designs to professional
installation, our team can provide
you with a full service and range of
solutions for glass flooring.

KITCHEN WORKTOPS
AND SPLASHBACKS
Kitchen designs have dramatically changed over recent
years with many people preferring more contemporary
designs and the use of clean cut materials such as flat
timber panels, stainless steel, stone and glass.
At Topglass we have been
developing and providing a range
of glass products to suit this
growing market. Our glass
splashbacks and worktops can
be manufactured in large panels
(up to 4m long) and to any shape
(including cut-outs for sockets, sinks
etc), providing a seamless look. As a
waterproof, non-porous, heat resistant,
hygienic, easy cleaned material, it eliminates the problem
associated with tiling and grouted joints.
DECORATIVE
With over 25 years experience and thousands of successfully
completed projects, we can offer the following range of high
quality hand crafted decorative glass:
Sandblasted/Engraved Glass
Kiln Formed and Fused Glass
Stained Glass
Bevelled and Brilliant Cut Glass
Special Laminated Glass
Wall Art
Traditional Crafts
Lighting Enhancements
Our dedicated team can
provide glazing solutions and
designs in traditional and
contemporary styles, which
are both practical and
beautiful, to meet any design
requirement from the most
basic to the highly intricate.

SHOWER ENCLOSURES
As bathroom designs and
layouts become more and more
creative, and clever use of
space always being a factor,
standard shower enclosures /
screens often fail to provide an
appropriate solution. At
Topglass we offer a bespoke
design and manufacture service
for this market. We offer a
range of fully enclosed (including
doors), and walk-in frameless
glass shower solutions using
both flat and curved glass.
These can even be shaped to
accommodate sloped ceilings or
built-in seating.
Our shower enclosures are
mainly made from clear
toughened glass, but we can
provide a range of specialist
glass including tinted, frosted,
textured, and coloured
laminated. We also provide an
extensive range of fittings
(including various finishes) to suit
the installation requirements.
These include slim-line channels,
wall clamps, hinges, handles,
support rails, etc.
Our ‘Colour Glass Splashbacks’
can also be used to clad the
solid walls in a shower
enclosure, or wet room,
providing a very modern look
with benefits including nonporous, easy-cleaned, hygienic,
and large single panels, without
grouted joints.
GLASS PARTITIONS AND DOORS
Our glass partitions and doors are
designed with the minimum of
framework, and slender fittings to
provide a modern frameless look, that
maximises light and gives a feeling of
space for the home or workplace.
We have designed and installed
hundreds of such frameless glass
solutions for offices, showrooms, hotel
spas and homes. We offer an extensive
range of design ideas, glass and fittings
to suit your needs.
We have an amazing range of door
fittings and sliding systems, all by top
quality UK, German and Italian
manufacturers, in a range of finishes.
SERVICES & FACILITIES
BESPOKE DESIGNS
One of our key strengths is that many of
our staff have a background in art and
design coupled with continuous training
and the freedom to be experimental and
creative. We like nothing more than the
challenge of a new brief or commission,
where we can really show our ability to
design with glass.
TECHNICAL &
ENGINEERING ADVICE
It is very important that all glass products
are correctly specified for their intended
use. As a result we have accumulated
dozens of years of experience in this
specialist market, and can offer a very
high standard of technical advice on
general, architectural, and decorative
glazing.
We can provide in-house information on
many glass products including glazing
standards, test certificates, drawings,
calculations with specialist software, and
samples to meet your technical queries.
For one-off jobs we offer a full ‘Structural
Glass Engineering Service’ (including
design indemnity).
With mobile digital 3-dimensional
measuring equipment (The ‘Proliner 8’)
we can pick up the dimensions and
shape of any area and the items in it to
an accuracy of less than 1mm, and
create a 3-D model on the screen right
there on site. Apart from eliminating the
human errors associated with traditional
surveying methods, this reduces both the
survey time on site and the drawing time
in the office.
DRAWING / CAD
We consider ‘accurate and detailed
drawings’ to be an essential part of our
glazing projects. Not only do these
communicate our exact intentions to
clients, but provides our manufacturing
and installation teams with accurate
information, to ensure a timely and
successful job.
Our in-house drawing department
consists of highly trained people using
up-to-date technology to produce very
detailed CAD drawings (2 dimensional &
3 dimensional).
SURVEYING
INSTALLATION &
DISTRIBUTION
We have always prided ourselves in our
ability to accurately carry out detailed site
surveys, using perfected methods of
measuring, angle finding and template
making to ensure a perfect fit of the
finished product.
All our projects are installed by one of our
own specialist glazing teams. Our
installers are experienced in our full range
of products and through continuous
training and improvement, we endeavour
to provide only the best of craftsmanship.
Being positioned right in the middle of
Northern Ireland we have the advantage
of being very close to the main road
networks. This allows us to reach most
parts of N. I. within 60-90 minutes. With
up to 50% of our work in the recent years
being in Republic of Ireland we regularly
have vehicles in all parts of the country,
allowing us to provide additional quick
distribution when required.
FACILITIES
In 2007 Topglass moved into new
purpose built premises in Toomebridge,
Co Antrim. This has provided us with a
spectacular reception and showroom,
modern offices and excellent
manufacturing facilities. Our factory has
been designed to provide clean
dedicated work areas for each process,
and has been equipped with new top
quality machinery (inc computerised
cutting table, edging and drilling
equipment, automatic sandblasting,
fusing kilns, spray booth etc).
For certain products/processes we have
a select number of other preferred
manufacturers in Ireland, UK and Europe,
who can provide us with an effective and
fast service.
