PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Spring has sprung….we hope. Warm weather
(10 degrees is warm isn’t it?) has finally
removed most of the blocks of ice and snow
from our streets and lawns, and exposed the
huge accumulation of pickle rockchips used
to keep our streets safe this winter. These
are great at “pickling” our windshields. Oh
the joys of Calgary seasons.
So Katten af
Ben Kromand Tonden was another success, enjoyed by
President
the 25 participants and their parents, thanks
to Bente and her faithful volunteers. The
27th annual Great Dames Gala was a sellout again and over
$20,000 was raised for the Hull Services New Roads program.
Congratulations to Ginette Denault and her committee for all
their work in organizing and carrying out this fantastic event.
Proper recognition of volunteers, staff and sponsors is noted
elsewhere in the newsletter.
May promises to be an active month at your club starting with
EuroVision song contest from Denmark on Saturday May
10th and Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday May 11th. This will
be followed on Monday May 12th with the co-hosting by the
Danish Canadian National Museum, the Danish Canadian Club
of Calgary and the Danish Lutheran Church in Calgary of a

visit by the Danish Ambassador to Canada, Mr. Abrahamsen.
A business luncheon at noon will give local business people
the opportunity to hear and discuss the effects that the
recent Canada/EU free trade agreement could have on trade
between our two countries and other information on Denmark’s
development of alternative energy. This will be followed by an
evening reception and dinner from 5 to 7 PM. Further details
are elsewhere in the newsletter and on our club website and
Facebook page.
In case there is still the odd frosty night in May, get your tickets
for Hawaii Night on Saturday May 24th for a warm evening of
dinner, dance and entertainment by the Hula Hula dance group.
Reports from participants in last year’s Jimmie Buffet event were
very positive with great music by the PH Unbalanced Band so get
out those great Hawaiian shirts and shake off those winter blues.
The annual meeting of the Federation of Danish Associations in
Canada is being held in Ottawa this year hosted by the Danish
Club of Ottawa. Members from many of the 41 members of
the Association get together to socialize and exchange ideas.
Tickets may still be available. This meeting is followed by a
Danish Heritage Seminar at nearby Calabogie Peaks Resort for
those interested in this seminar which is modeled on the Folk
Schools in Denmark.

Kim Danielsen and The Andras Group
Five Basic Questions you should be asking
yourself about your financial health.
1. Do you know what your RATE of Return was on your portfolio last year? For the last five
years? You would be surprised at how many people don't know. When was the last time you sat
down with your Advisor and did a comprehensive review of your portfolios' past performance
and where are you going in the future?
2. Do you know how much you paid in total for all your services? Many institutions have hidden
fees that you never see. Over the years these fees can considerably change your bottom line.
3. Do you know your rights as an investor? The CFA institute has created a list of 10 rights
that an Investor should expect from financial service providers.
4. Will you outlive your money? Many people do not have an actual plan that creates financial
targets and a time line in which to try to accomplish these objectives.
5. Do you feel that you are getting personalized service, or are just another account on a big list?
If you would like more information regarding the above questions, please visit my web site:
kimdanielsen.com or you can call me direct at 403-355-0070 to set up a private consultation.
Kim Danielsen and The Andras Groups’ focus is to provide financial planning to Individuals,
Families and Corporations that are looking for tailored plans that put your needs and
objectives first.

Katten af Tønden • March 2nd, 2014
Because of 25 children attending we split them up in two age
groups. So we only had two barrels this year but "Fun" time
was had by all. We had "Miss Loosie" to come and make fancy
balloon creations for the kids. Big thanks go to all my wonderful
volunteers, they spent the whole day helping out. Thanks goes
to: Lis Sørensen, Karen Olsen, Rita & Gustav Rasmussen, Lone
& Jeroen Beudeker, Nan Davies, Carsten Carstensen, John
Brix, Jens Laursen and Karsten Dalberg.
Sincerely, Bente Dalberg (Social Committee)
