EXHIBITS
• Over 1,000 exhibits designed and fabricated since 1982 for science centers, museums, and other organizations around the world.
• Over 7 million people a year experience Exploratorium exhibits at science
centers and museums around the world
• Clients in the U.S. include Sci-Quest, Detroit Science Center, Liberty
Science Center, Sci-Tech, Pfizer Corporation, Peabody Essex Museum,
Maryland Science Center, and Discovery Science Center (L.A.)
• International clients include Museo Interactivo Mirador (Chile), Sony
Explorascience Beijing (China), Ciencia Viva (Portugal) Museo de la
Ciencias (Spain), Trompo Magico (Mexico), Singapore Science Center,
Petrosains (Malaysia), Calgary Science Center (Canada), Technorama
(Switzerland)
EXPLORATORIUM NETWORK FOR EXHIBIT-BASED TEACHING (EXNET)
• ExNET partner museums receive annually rotating sets of
35 Exploratorium exhibits as well as 40 days of consulting
over a three year period. Partners use ExNET to offer highquality interactive exhibits, enhance public programs, develop
teacher professional development programs, initiate explainer
programs, and facilitate staff exchanges.

• 3.5 million visitors a year attend ExNET partner museums
• 1,200 teachers a year attend professional development
workshops offered by ExNET partner museums
• ExNET partners gather at annual partner meetings and at
the Association of Science & Technology Centers (ASTC)
annual conference.
• ExNET partners’ staff attend popular Exploratorium workshops
and programs such as the Teacher Institute, Institute for Inquiry,
and Center for Informal Learning and Schools.

TRAVELING EXHIBITIONS
• Current Traveling Exhibitions include “Traits of Life,” “Memory,” “Turbulent Landscapes,” and “Navigation”
• “Traits of Life” is a traveling exhibition that examines the structure and nature of life. It has received funding
from the National Science Foundation and is available for rental.
• “Memory” explores how humans process, store, retrieve, and forget memories. It has been visited by over
500,000 people and has appeared at venues around the U.S. and Mexico including Liberty Science Center,
Danville Science Center, California Science Center, Missouri History Museum, and Science Spectrum.
• “Turbulent Landscapes,” blends art and science to illuminate the underlying order in chaotic patterns of
nature. It is currently being tr aveled by the Natural History Museum London (NHM) and has appeared at
European venues including NHM, the Emmin Zoo, and Le Palais de la Decouverte.
• “Navigation” explores the diversity and ingenuity of human navigation methods. It has appeared at venues
around the U.S. including the Rochester Museum and Science Center, Ft. Worth Museum of Science and
History, Museum of the Rockies, Cleveland Museum of Natural Histor y, and Morris Museum.
CONSULTING
• The Exploratorium provides a wide range of
consulting services on topics such as concept
development, space planning, program planning,
exhibition design, exhibit selection, exhibit
design, visitor programming, educational
programming, and visitor services
• Current consulting projects include a project to
plan, design, and implement a science center as
part of a theme park in Saigon, Vietnam.The
current plan calls for 177 exhibit items across
5 topic areas with an outdoor exhibit garden,
performance spaces, and classrooms.
