violinist began to learn playing violin when he was three and
debuted on the stage at the age of 7, and since then, he has been
designated to concerto with the famous Berlin Philharmonic and

This retrospective exhibition of Josef
Albers (1888~1976) is the first of its kind in

Together with the “Josef Albers: Minimal Means, Maximum Effect” exhibition, the
KMFA holds this exhibition to introduce Richard Lin to local viewers. Although
having been staying abroad, Lin has played an important role in Taiwan’s modern
artistic development. His works are widely collected by major art institutions
around the globe, including the National Palace Museum in Taiwan which had never
included any modern artwork in its collection before. This comprehensive exhibition
displays over 100 of his works during the past 50 years, including his recent
installation works. In this era with ever-changing artistic styles, Lin is distinguished
by his rigorous life-long pursuit of artistic idealism.

American Footsteps in southern Taiwan Our People in a Defining Era

Apart from about 250 works from the Josef
and Anni Albers Foundation, the exhibition

An Exhibition of Donated Works by Ma Pai-sui

In early 2009, Mrs. Ma generously donated to the Museum 42 works by her deceased
husband, a collection she has kept for many years. Created from 1954 to 1994, these
works include ink paintings, watercolors, prints, etc. Ma Pai-sui combined Western
watercolor painting skills and the essence of Chinese ink painting to express in his
work his love for Taiwan, while also rendering the scenery in many foreign countries
he had visited. His “ink and color” works represent a unique modern style, showing
simplicity, spirituality and characteristics of traditional literati.

Mixed Media Sculpture Exhibition
The development of Kaohsiung City from the Japanese Colonial Period to the
present has given birth to many intriguing stories and inspiring artworks. By
displaying over 80 selected works from the KMFA’s collection, this exhibition
allows viewers to look back the transitions of Kaohsiung’s cityscape over the
years. It is hoped that the exhibition can not only enable viewers to relive the past
but also inspire them to reflect upon what the city has gained and lost during the
process of its development.
Confrontation seems like a serious issue. If one had lived his life seriously,
there must be many deep impressions retained in the memory and every
step leaves its print.
“Confrontation” is not really the focus in my exhibition, the focus is on the
correspondence and cross-examination between my works, people, ethnic
groups, the tradion domain and I.

ensemble- Die 12 Cellisten der Berliner Philharmoniker will
give a concert in Taiwan, a worthy performance that you

During turmoil of war, those who came to Taiwan had only one luggage to remind
them of their attachment towards home. These various types of “boxes” also
reflect the history of Taiwan and the transition of the society in Taiwan.

As times change, several old houses in Taiwan have gradually been removed. Those that have been kept whole
and complete are less and less to be seen. Photographer Seven, who works in a wedding photography studio,
combines wedding photography with old houses and brings another beauty of contrast between modern times
and decadency, showing the beauty of old houses. Compared with modern buildings, old houses give a more
stable and safer feeling of strength.

Painting Retrospective Exhibition
On March 2008, one day, when Zhou Ying-jie went out to the seashore to take the pictures, he accidently found a
large pile of drift wood grounded on the beach, covered by the green moss, just like the dead wood was putting
a green jacket. He was so excited at that moment and inspired by this vision. Since then, he has been taking the
pictures of the unique sight that has once touched him at seashores, dells and fish farms. This exhibition includes
more than seventy selective photographs to share. Welcome to visit and leave your comments.

The Story about Time - Exhibition on the Story
of Life in the Military Dependent’s Village
Military dependent’s village was a place that carried the dreams and future of
millions of people. It was their other hometown for 60 years. With the moving and
removing of military dependent villages, we believe that when facing such a cruel
policy, military dependent villages should have a different appearance. The theme
this year is a extension of “continuation”. The story about time represents the daily
scenes in military dependent villages. As you go through the exhibition, walk through
the military dependent village in a another way. With conversations between cultural
andhistorical relics, you will get to meet a new military dependent village.
