consignment shop was as simple as gathering
up all her past work experience and putting
it under one storefront. “Whether you
are building a new home, remodeling or
redecorating, we are here to assist you,” Angie
said. Angie, a Rogue Valley native, grew up
with the family’s home construction business.
“I love creating something that will last a long
time, whether it be a new home or creating a
new living space. I enjoy sharing my creative
side with others. Our store has allowed me the
opportunity to use all my past experiences from
design, decorating, staging, and building.”
Angie opened the store in December 2011
with TJ Kohinke. After a career in logistics, his
entrepreneurial spirit inspired him to start a business
he could call his own. “I wanted to create something
that would benefit our community,” TJ said.
The two saw a need in the area and quickly began
plans for House to Home. “We knew of many families
that were downsizing or moving in or out the area due
to jobs and the economy,” Angie said. “We wanted to try
and help our community and those in those situations.
There is no place in town that showcased gently
used furniture in a vignette style setting instead of a
warehouse style.”
They have also incorporated a full service design
center into their business concept. “Our experienced
staff will help you fulfill your vision -- pulling together
all of the elements you need, from hardwood flooring,
carpet, and tile, to stone and vinyl,” she said. “We offer
a great selection of Elk Lighting and Moen plumbing
fixtures.

“Our biggest compliment is when someone walks
into our store and says, ‘Where is your consignment
furniture?’ Our store is 90% consignment of gently
used furniture and home décor. Due to the way that we
display our furniture people have a hard time believing
it is mostly gently used.”
An as with most consignment shops, the inventory
is constantly revolving. “We never know what is going to
come walking through the door,” Angie said. We have
been amazed at the quality of furniture that we have
been able to re-home.
“Whether your furniture needs a new house or
your home needs new furniture…think House To Home
Gallery.”
House to Home Gallery also offers pick-up and
delivery service. The Gallery is located at 300 E. Barnett
Rd, across from the Winco Shopping Center and is open
Wed-Fri 10am-6pm; Sat and Sun from 10am to 5pm.

Anniversary Sale at
Medford Mattress
You know a mattress store is doing
its job if you feel like taking a nap after
making a tour of the showroom. And
at Medford Mattress, located at 4918
Crater Lake Ave. (next to Good Guys
Guns), that’s exactly the effect they’re
looking for. They carry all the brand
names, including Simmons Beauty
Sleep, Sim-mons Comforedic, Serta
iComfort, Pure Latex Bliss, Restonic,
and Lady Americana. They also offer
up to 48 months financing at 0% on
approved credit.
And at Medford Mattress, the
customer always comes first.
“We listen to the customer’s needs,”
said co-owner Rod Broderson who,
along with his wife Peg, bought the
business in 2003. “There’s no high
pressure, and all of our sales team live
in the Rogue Valley and have raised
their families here.”
Medford Mattress also has a location
in downtown Medford at 301 S. Front
Street, and is part of Mattress Experts
located in Grants Pass.
“I was actually involved in mill work
for 26 years,” Rod said. “Medford
Mattress first opened in 1989, and I’d
met the previous owner in 2000. When
he wanted to retire, he offered Peg
and me the store, which we bought in
2003. We opened the north Medford
shop a year ago.”
The success of the store, according
to Rod, was based on friendly family
sales and service.
“Our goal is to provide the best
prices and service in the valley,” he
said. “Our ‘old school’ style of doing
business is something that our
customers truly appreciate. We also
noticed that when the economy went
bad, our business picked up. Rogue
Valley people started seeking out
small-town, local businesses, finding
the prices are better than you can find
at large, corporate businesses. And
the service and follow-up is better. All
of this is easily backed up with just a
little research.”
The company has definitely grown
through the years.
“Hiring like-minded employees was
a real challenge,” Rod said. “But we
have been successful there as well. We
began with one employee in 2003 and
now have 16.”

Importance of Full-Day
Kindergarten for Learning Success
T
oday, even our youngest students
face rigorous expectations in order
to meet the workplace demands of
the 21st century. The ability to face
those challenges with the necessary
skills and abilities is essential to your
child’s success in the classroom and
beyond. Those who are ill prepared
to begin their learning experience
are more likely to perform behind
their classmates throughout their
educational experience and as adults
in the workforce.
Unfortunately, while our education
system has set increasingly high
standards, funding for preschool,
pre-k, and full-day kindergarten
continues to be cut.
Children who participate in fullday kindergarten as a part of the
preschool-3rd grade continuum:
• are more likely to graduate with
their class
• have lower remediation rates
• have more advanced socialization
and learning skills
• are more prepared for the school
environment
• have higher academic achievement
that carries through later grades
• have better attendance rates
• show increased literacy and
language skills
• have fewer emotional and behavior
problems
When public funding is lacking
for full-day kindergarten programs,
there are limited options for parents.
Private full-day and supplemental
programs are available, but when
such programs are not feasible, it is
important to engage in family based
learning activities.
To help prepare yourself and your
child:
• obtain a list of the expectations
and curriculum goals from your child’s
school and be involved with parent/
school activities
• familiarize yourself and your child
with the expectations
• seek out suggestions for learning
based activities that meet those goals
(numerous online resources are
available for parents and educators
alike).
• introduce activities that will help
your child be responsible and work
independently
• be encouraging and remind him/
her that making mistakes is part of
the learning process
• read together
• explore your community and its
resources (libraries, organizations,
parks, day camps/classes, museums,
etc.)
• practice routines and healthy
habits
• limit screen time
For families looking for preschool
or supplemental education programs
for children in kindergarten and older,
The Learning Loft at Kid Time offers
a variety of opportunities including
2,3, and 5 day per week programs;
educational consulting; and familybased activities. Visit www.kid-time.

Keepin’ it Local
September 2013 — The Sneak Preview — Page 11
Local Business Buzz: Fox Run Farm
The Local Buzz is a monthly column
featuring locally owned businesses in
the Rogue Valley brought to you by
Thrive and the Buy Local – Buy Rogue
campaign. For more information about
the campaign and to find Fox Run Farm
and other locally owned businesses, go
to www.BuyLocalRogue.org.
BLBR: What is your business and
how long have you been doing it?
Duane & Laura Goodman, owners of
Fox Run Farm for 18 years, grow 62
varieties of apples on 1 and 1/3 acres
of land in West Medford. We specialize
in hard-bodied apples primarily
used for our cider. Our best seller
in the eating varieties is the Golden
Delicious, but the Fuji and Newtown
Pippin are favorites as well. We also
operate a farm stand, May through
December, selling products from a
wide variety of local farmers and food
producers.
BLBR: What inspired you to get
into this line of work?
Duane & Laura: We just literally
fell into it. The land was for sale and
we made an offer. Duane grew up in
Medford and we were looking for a way
to return to the Rogue Valley and try
something new.
BLBR: What does local mean to
you?
Duane & Laura: We have found
that people generally prefer to deal
with locally owned businesses. We
appreciate the fact that customers
understand the importance of keeping
our dollars local to benefit the
community as a whole.
BLBR: What do you do to Buy
Local – Buy Rogue?
Duane & Laura: It is tough to do
business in a small town. We support
other local businesses whenever
possible. Nearly all of our products
come from local farmers and food
producers. We support them 100%,
no questions asked.
BLBR: How does your business
give back to the community?
Duane & Laura:
We support
our community by supporting local
farmers. Keeping others in business
is just as important as keeping our
own business afloat. We are one of
the few locally owned small retail
outlets available to local farmers and
food producers. It is very important to
us to support our neighbors.
BLBR: Tell us something about
your business that most people
don’t know.
Duane & Laura: Most people have
no idea what it actually takes to bring
an apple to market. It is a very timeconsuming, year-round effort. Each
individual crop must be treated
differently. The season of opportunity
is actually very short. To nurture
crops and bring food to the tables of
others in our community is incredibly
difficult work. So many wonderful
families in the Rogue Valley benefit
from the simple purchase of a locally
grown fruit or vegetable. The actual
cost of bringing an apple to market
cannot be taken for granted.

Like a lot of southern Oregonians,
the urge to escape the smoke-filled
valley last month turned our family’s
sights to the coast. We made the
usual inquiries to hotels and rentals
in Crescent City and Brookings only
to find out that everything was booked
solid. So we continued the search a
little further north until we happened
upon a promising one bedroom garden
cottage located a few miles outside of
Gold Beach.
We booked it, packed up the wagon
and headed into the heart of darkness
(Grants Pass and the Illinois Valley).
Before we knew it we were winding our
way down the Smith River under clear
blue skies. The drive to Gold Beach
up Highway 101 was spectacular,
especially the section north of
Brookings where towering sea stacks
rise from the surf, creating eruptions of
white water each time a gathering swell
crashed upon the rock outcroppings.
As we pulled up to our new home
for a few days, we were greeted by
the owners of the cottage, Chris and
Kate, who have lived on the property
for almost a quarter of a century. They
gave us the grand tour of the gardens,
introduced us to their six chickens,
and guided us around to the back of
the cottage, passing a reading tent
and a hammock overlooking a deep
and lush ravine. Out back, just off
the deck there was an outdoor shower
and an antique cast iron soaking tub,
surrounded by ferns, flowers and the
occasional hummingbird.
The setting was ideal for some serious
rest and relaxation. And the interior
of the cottage was equally suited for
lounging: hard wood floors, a loft for
reading and napping, a rocking chair
situated in front of a picture window
looking out into the ravine, and a
well-stocked kitchen…there were even
freshly baked muffins and freshly laid
eggs waiting for us. The cottage had
just been remodeled, and you could
tell they put a lot of time and energy
ensuring that peace and relaxation
were top priorities.
The property is just off of the
highway, only a mile or so from the
nearest beach access. But from this
location, some of the most beautiful
beaches in all of Oregon are within
just a 30-minute drive, which made
this quiet garden sanctuary the perfect
place to replinish after a long day of
beachcombing.
One evening we returned after an
afternoon of exploring to find the
owners and some friends sitting in the
yard around a campfire playing music.
They even invited us to join them and
roast marsh mellows.
At the end of just a few days at this
quiet getaway, we had almost forgotten
about the smoke that lingered back at
home.

The Jackson County Community Concert
Association announces its 75th Season
T
he Civic Music Association was
established in Medford in 1931 with
William F. Isaacs as President, as one
of many formed in the depression
years. In 1966 the change to Community Concerts was made to obtain better service and a larger roster of artists. Also in 1966 a Steinway Concert
Grand piano was given to the association by Andy Anderson. This piano has
been played by many of the world’s
leading pianists over the years.
Jackson County Communtiy Concert Association (JCCCA) has the presented the likes of Van Cliburn; the
Minneapolis, Huston and Pittsburgh
Symphonies; Dallas Brass, Andres
Segovia, Vienna Boys Choir, Roger
Wagner Chorale, Mantovani, Itzak
Perlman, Preservation Hall Jazz Band,
Joffrey II Dancers, The Pied Pipers
and many, many other stellar attractions at a very reasonable price for its
members. In the mid ‘60s there were
as many as 2,500 members, (3,000 attended the Van Cliburn concert) when
concerts had to be held in the Hedrick
gym. Much more information and
complete concert list may be found on
the association website.
This next season promises to be exceptional, with great performers and
special events planned to celebrate our
75th. All of the 2013-14 concerts will
be at 7:30 PM at the Craterian. Memberships may be purchased up to the
evening of the first concert from the
Association through its website www.
jcconcerts.org or by calling 541-7735631 for information. Season memberships are $125 adult, $30 student.
After September 25, individual performance tickets may be purchased at
the Craterian Box office for $50 adult
and $6 student.
On October 7 Hal Linden spices up
the stage with a dose of nostalgia, a
dash of legendary star quality and a
mean clarinet. With a 65-year career
in the entertainment business, Linden
is best known for his portrayal of the
police precinct captain in the hit television series, Barney Miller, for which
he earned multiple Golden Globe and
Emmy nominations.
In 1957, he
made his Broadway debut in the musical Bells Are Ringing opposite Judy
Holliday and has performed in more
than 20 Broadway and off-Broadway
productions including Pajama Game,
A Christmas Carol, Chicago and Cabaret. In 1971, he won the Tony Award
for Best Actor in a Musical for his
role in The Rothschilds. Backed by a
7-piece band, Linden sings and plays
some of America’s greatest songs and
Broadway hits. You will get decades
worth of knowledge and talent and
an entire concert filled with an assortment of poise, entertainment and
timeless melodies.
She’s one young girl with one great
passion … and one giant career ahead
of her.
Eleven-year-old piano prodigy, Umi
Garrett, has been skyrocketing into
superstardom since her appearance
on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in
2009. Receiving requests to perform
worldwide and appearing regularly
with symphony orchestras around the
world, she’s thrilling audiences with
her unparalleled performances and
youthful, enthusiastic charm and we
get to experience her artistry on November 4. Umi debuted with the Desert Symphony in California, and then
performed in Asia with the Wuhan
Symphony Orchestra. Performing at
festivals in Italy, Australia and Japan,
she was recently invited to perform a
solo recital for the Japan Times in Tokyo and at Carnegie (Weill) Hall.
Winner of first prize at the Southwestern Youth Music Festival, the J.S.
Bach Competition in Los Angeles for
two consecutive years and the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano
Competition in New York, Umi Garrett
is on a flight to legendary status and
her ride doesn’t seem to be stopping
anytime soon.
The New York Brass Arts Trio (January 27, 2014) is being hailed as the
first brass group ever to play with the
sensitivity and musicality of a string
quartet revolutionizing brass chamber
music. World-class soloists, Joe Burgstaller (trumpet), David Jolley (French
horn), and Haim Avitsur (trombone),
have forged together classical and jazz
masterworks of all eras and adapted
them for this fantastic and versatile
instrumentation. With each member
bringing serious experience and credentials to the trio including Burgstaller’s three Top-10 Billboard hits,
Jolley’s participation in the founding of the Grammy-winning Orpheus
Chamber Orchestra and Avitsur, the
only trombonist named Emerging Artist (2005 & 2007) by Symphony Magazine, it is no surprise that this revolutionizing trio is transforming and
creating a new wave of brass chamber
music.
Enjoy the insightful sounds of the
New York Brass Arts Trio as they play
some of the most loved music from
Bach, Beethoven, Debussy, Gershwin,
Strauss, Piazzolla and more.
March 16, 2014
Dubbed “Greek God of the Guitar,”
Pavlo is a sizzling composer, guitarist and singer with a Mediterranean
flavor. Mixing the sounds of Greek
bouzouki with flamenco and Latin influences has proven a winning combination, which Pavlo says was the
“natural progression” of combining
his training and passions for cultural
sounds. Six acclaimed albums and a
Juno Award for 2004 World Artist of
the Year, Pavlo continues to grow in
demand. He is blazing a quick path
toward international superstardom
with television and film credits, commissioned works and an invitation to
perform for His Royal Highness Prince
Charles. Joined by a trio of musicians
on bouzouki, bass and percussion,
Pavlo will capture the audience with
the sounds of the Chinese ehru, the
Portuguese guitarra, the Arabic flute,
the Indian sitar and of course, the
Greek bouzouki. Truly a world artist,
audiences everywhere will be on their
feet cheering for an encore.
The season grand finale April 15,
2014 features a favorite with area
audiences, pianist Jon Nakamatsu.
When a high school German teacher,
Nakamatsu, won the Gold Medal at
the 1997 Van Cliburn International
Piano Competition, his life changed
forever. Two years later he played
at the White House for the Clintons.
Since then he has toured the world as
soloist and as chamber musician. He
recently played for the Beijing International Piano festival, and he frequently
tours with the Berlin Philharmonic
Wind Quintet.

20th Annual Greater
Medford Multicultural Fair
The 20th Annual Greater Medford
Multicultural Fair will take place
at Hawthorne Park in Medford on
Saturday, September 28, 2013 from
10am-4pm.
According to Connie Saldaña, one
of the original organizers of the first
Multicultural Fair, a local community
group, now known as Oregon Action,
put on the first one in 1993 in
downtown Medford in Alba Park.
Connie remembers that the original
reason for creating the first fair was
to remind Rogue Valley residents that
the community demographics were
changing. “The Multicultural Fair was
a positive way to combat racism and to
promote social justice,” Connie said.
“It became a celebration of cultural
diversity.”
Shortly after the first fair, with
the help of many partners, the
Multicultural Association of Southern
Oregon (MCASO) was formed. MCASO
continued presenting the Fair for the
next nine years. As a result of the
connections made at that first Fair, the
African American Cultural Association
was created and the Native Americans
joined to hold the first Veteran’s Pow
Wow out at the Domiciliary.
In 2003, MCASO approached
the City of Medford’s Multicultural
Commission
to
assume
the
responsibility to ensure the continuity
of the Multicultural Fair. The
Multicultural Commission established
the ‘Friends of the Multicultural Fair’
to enlarge and expand community
support.
“Surrounded by quiet green with
a background of both aging and
newer architecture, the Multicultural
Fair has moved to Hawthorne Park,
an urban park in the center of
Medford, that is the perfect site for
this multicultural celebration,” said
Multicultural Commission member
Pam Lucas. “Yes! Oregon Action,
MCASO and many other local groups/
agencies have been faithful to the fair
for the past 20 years. I might add that
Snow Mountain, who directs the local
Ballet Folklórico Ritmo Alegre dance
troupe, has brought her dancers to the
Fair each and every year.”
Entertainment at this year’s Fair
will include hula dance groups,
Japanese dancers, guitar music,
Mexican folk dancers, a mountain
dulcimer player, belly dancers, the
Rogue Valley Alp Horns, the Celtic
Weavers, among others.
“Ethnic food, educational booths and
vendors are part of the fair, held every
fall to share cultures of the region,”
said Debra Lee, an organizer. “The goal
of the Fair is to build community by
bringing us all together to share our
cultures in a way that leads to broader
understanding, mutual respect and
further dialogue.”

Art du Jour September Exhibits
Charming,
innocent, sunny faces
will be seen at Art du Jour in September. Judy Hubler will show her
watercolor paintings of children busy
in their own world, just naturally being themselves. She always paints
from photographs that catch children
in unguarded, whimsical moments
and likes to include a toy, hat, book,
or special clothing in the painting.
Hubler enjoys creating a painting that
makes you smile every time you look
at it.
Recently, Hubler has begun to use
only the three basic colors in her wa-
tercolor paintings as she feels that it
gives them a cleaner fresher look.
Artworks by Rogue River artist Susan Eileen Burnes, president of the
Grants Pass Museum of Art, will continue to be shown in the Salon. In her
work, Burnes applies layers of pastel
pigments to hand-stiched fiber, which
she displays in a grid on painted canvas. The simple groupings result in
bold and elegant compositions.
These displays will run through
September at Art du Jour Gallery, 213
E. Main St., Medford. For more information call 541-770-3190 or see www.

Medical Marijuana
Dispensaries Now
Legal in Oregon
T
by Nathaniel Hayden
he story of legal marijuana
production and consumption in the
state of Oregon is full of ambiguity and
gray areas. In July the Oregon Senate
and House of Representatives—in an
attempt to erase a few shades of gray—
passed House Bill 3460, which was
co-sponsored by Rep. Peter Buckley,
D-Ashland, legalizing the retail sale
of medical marijuana. On August 14,
Governor John Kitzhaber signed that
bill into law.
This bill, in essence, will create a
state registry of dispensaries that can
now legally sell medical marijuana.
This is seen by advocates of medical
marijuana patients as an overdue step
in the right direction.
“This bill passed because the Oregon
Legislature took a leadership role on
the issue after years of cannabis law
reform advocates educating the public
and policy makers about the need to
establish a medical cannabis supply
system,” said Anthony Johnson,
Executive Director of the National
Cannabis Coalition.
For most proponents of the
bill, it came down to safety and
accessibility. “It’s about time patients
can have reliable and safe access to
their medicine of choice,” said Mel
Barniskis, the office manager of The
Greenery, a medical marijuana patient
resource center located in Phoenix,
OR. “These new laws will make it safer
and quicker for card holders to obtain
marijuana. This means that many
more patients will be able to enjoy its
benefits.”
Though the legislation had plenty
of opposition, Ellen Rosenblum,
Oregon’s Attorney General endorsed
the bill, citing in a letter to legislators
that there are approximately 150 of
these facilities already in existence
that are not licensed by the state that
“operate in a climate of uncertain
legality.” According to Rosenblum, if
these establishments were regulated
by the state, card holding medical
marijuana patients would “be able
to obtain medical marijuana safely,
predictably, promptly, and legally.”
The Current Grower/Patient
Relationship
Medical marijuana has been legal
in the State of Oregon since Ballot
Measure 67 established the Oregon
Medical Marijuana Act in 1998.
Until passage of House Bill 3460,
residents with a valid Oregon Medical
Marijuana Program card had two
options to obtain their medicine: you
could grow it yourself, or designate
someone to legally grow the medicine
for you. Under current law, growers
can only be reimbursed for supplies
and utilities. Each cardholder is
restricted to six mature plants and
18 seedlings. That relationship after
HB 3460 remains the same, except
that patients can give permission to
their grower to provide any excess
cannabis grown to medical marijuana
facilities. These growers can now be
reimbursed for the normal costs of
doing business, which according to the
bill includes: “transferring, handling,
securing, insuring, testing, packaging
and processing usable marijuana and
immature marijuana plants and the
cost of supplies, utilities and rent or
mortgage.”
According to Barniskis, this is
great news for both growers and
cardholders. “Now patients do not
have to wait months and months for
their medicine; and they will have
access to not only a higher quality
product, but to alternate methods of
consumption such as oils, tinctures,
lotions and edibles that growers are
not able to provide,” she said. “This will
make cannabis medicine accessible to
those who might have overlooked it
in the past, and it will legitimize the
marijuana growers, who should be
treated like any other farmer here in
the valley.”
In a signing statement to HB 3460,
Governor Kitzhaber expressed his
concerns for the new law, but in the
end the key issue was safety:
“There are two main goals we wish
to achieve: first, we want to ensure
the overall safety of our communities
through appropriate rules to license
and regulate dispensaries and second,
we want to allow the patients safe
access to marijuana if they are eligible
for treatment under the Oregon
Medical Marijuana Program.”
In addition to some general rules
outlined in HB 3460, the Oregon Health
Authority (OHA) in now charged with
creating a registration and regulatory
system for dispensaries. Kitzhaber
added in his signing letter that it will
be “critical to set fees for dispensaries
that will provide sufficient funding to
OHA so that they can be extraordinarily
vigorous in their enforcement of the
rules that are developed.” Deadline for
the new regulations is set for March
1, 2014.
Let the Regulation Begin
As mentioned above, the OHA
now has about six months to create
a regulatory system for medical
marijuana dispensaries. Authorities
at OHA indicated that they will
appoint a rules advisory committee
to “broadly engage stakeholders and
the general public in the rulemaking
process.” The committee, which will
most likely be made up of cardholding
patients, marijuana advocates and law
enforcement officers, will be appointed
in September and will hold its first
meeting soon thereafter.
Anthony Johnson hopes the new
regulations work for patients, the
medical cannabis industry, as well
as Oregon’s communities. “The
rules will need to strike a proper
balance between ensuring safe access
for patients, while minimizing any
potential detriments to Oregon’s
neighborhoods and communities,”
Johnson said. “Most importantly,
proper security measures need to be in
place to ensure that cannabis from the
medical cannabis dispensaries doesn’t
end up in the hands of minors.”
In an interview with Alex Rogers,
owner of Ashland Alternative Health,
he pointed out that initially this bill
does not add any new taxes on medical
marijuana. Though he went on to say
that HB 3640 will generate millions of
dollars for Oregon from the state tax
revenue on the medical marijuana
facilities themselves. Rogers added
“the overseeing agency set up by
HB 3640 is likely to be funded by
application fees.”
For Mel Barniskis, she wants the new
regulations to treat her business like
any other business. “I’ve been waiting
for legislation and taxation for years,
but I don’t want to see municipalities
operate under a ‘reefer madness’
mentality and impose exorbitant sin
taxes. We just want it to be accepted
that this is our medicine of choice in
the same way it’s accepted for those
who stand in line at Walgreens for
their oxycodone.”
September 2013 — The Sneak Preview — Page 21
The Gray Area Remains
But at the end of the day, after
all state laws are signed, sealed
and delivered, if you grow or are in
possession of marijuana—even if you
have your Oregon Medical Marijuana
Program card—you are still in breach
of Federal law and can be prosecuted
accordingly.
Governor
Kitzhaber
explicitly points this out in his signing
statement: “Nothing in this law
protects the dispensaries, growers,
caregivers or patients from federal
prosecution.”
According to Johnson, marijuana
prohibition is a failed policy. “It is
unnecessarily costing billions of
dollars, diverting law enforcement
resources from better priorities and
needlessly ruining lives,” he said. “We
are working to replace prohibition
with a regulatory model similar to
alcohol. This is the only way to prevent
cannabis from entering the black
market. House Bill 3460 is a step in
the right direction.”
