OMG Herefordshire Guide
OMG Herefordshire is a search to find the next great local artist from the area. They will represent the county by performing at OMG Live alongside other young musicians from across the West Midlands. OMG Live will be held at the LG Arena in Birmingham on Sunday 19th April 2015. As well as the chance to perform at one of the UK’s most exciting venues, the chosen artists will also take part in masterclasses led by professional musicians, so there will be opportunities to hone skills, gain valuable tips, make a name for yourself and potentially make useful contacts for the future! OMG Live is a region-wide project endorsed by Music Education Hubs. The Music Pool is delighted to be commissioned by Herefordshire Music Service to run OMG Herefordshire. Think you’ve got what it takes? Here’s what you need to do to enter OMG Herefordshire: 1) Record a video of your act performing a song of your choice. This can be an original song, or a cover. 2) Upload the video to YouTube 3) Send the video link, along with a completed entry form (found below), to [email protected] All eligible entries will be taken before two panels, one of young musicians and one of music professionals, who will create a shortlist of performers to be invited to the OMG Herefordshire showdown at The Courtyard in Hereford on Sunday 8 th February. At the showdown, a panel of judges will decide the act who will go on to represent their county at the LG Arena in Birmingham. Remember this is a LIVE competition. We are looking for the best PERFORMANCES, not necessarily the best technical ability. This means your submission video must be a video of you performing, not just the audio! TERMS AND CONDITIONS All performers must be under 19 on the day of the event (19th April 2015) Each act is to have a maximum of 7 performers Each performance will be a total of 3 songs consisting of 2 songs selected by the act (can be covers or original songs) and 1 song selected from the OMG playlist found below The act chosen to represent Herefordshire must attend a day of professional masterclasses at The Performance Hub at The University of Wolverhampton on 28th March REMEMBER – you must be available to perform at The Courtyard in Hereford on 8th February and at the LG Arena on 19th April 2015 Remember Youtube is a public video sharing service, which means when you upload a video there, it has the potential to be seen by everyone and anyone. Whilst this is an exciting prospect, Youtube comments have a history of harbouring cyber-bullies or ‘trolls’. Please read the following advice to ensure your safety and privacy when uploading videos for OMG Herefordshire: When uploading, you can choose to make your video either public, private or unlisted - Public – your video will appear on your channel page and people will be able to search for it. This option is only to be used if you are happy for your video to be viewed by anyone - Private – your video will not appear on your channel page and people will not be able to search for it. You can only share private videos with Google+ users. This option is not viable for OMG Herefordshire submissions since The Music Pool is not connected to Google+ so you will not be able to share a private video with us - Unlisted – your video will not appear on your channel page and people will not be able to search for it. You can share an unlisted video with anyone you send the link to. The Music Pool will not pass on the link to your video. This is the recommended option for OMG Herefordshire submissions Whether your video is public, private or unlisted, we recommend you disable comments on your video by following these instructions: - Click the ‘video manager’ link below your video Choose ‘edit’ on the video you want to disable comments for Go to ‘advanced settings’ At the top of this section is the option to allow comments or not (the box is checked by default) Alternatively, you can change settings for comments across your channel or on new videos at this link: https://www.youtube.com/comment_management Any information submitted to The Music Pool, including personal details and your YouTube link, will not be shared with anyone outside of the organisation.
