STATION #1:
PROJECT OVERVIEW
This station outlines basic background
information, including the project’s
purpose and the study process.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Northwest Parkway is a transportation project
that is looking at creating an improved, more
reliable connection between the residential areas
of Northwest St. Louis County and the employment
centers in the Earth City and Riverport areas.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Northwest Parkway project is an
Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Location Study.
The EIS will identify and analyze potential social and
environmental impacts associated with the
transportation improvements.
The Location Study will evaluate possible alternatives
and the impacts of those alternatives.

The study area for the Northwest
Parkway project is made up of three
distinct subareas: the area that crosses
the floodplain of the Missouri River,
the area that traverses the steep bluff
rising out of the floodplain, and the
section through the residential areas
in Florissant.

The hydrological conditions of the area
create a situation where short-term and
long-term flood-related closures occur
along this route. These closures are
often unpredictable and irregular in
their duration, and cause unreliable
travel conditions.The purpose of the
