UND Celebration welcomes Dolly Duffy, new students
UND Celebration welcomes Dolly Duffy, new students More than 85 people gathered to celebrate our Club’s annual Student Send-off on Aug. 13 at Millennium Park. The event, sponsored by the Notre Dame Federal Credit Union, allowed incoming students and their families to meet and ask questions before the start of the school year in South Bend. Welcome to the Class of 2018 Hesburgh Lecture this fall Our Club is proud to welcome 11 students from the Grand Rapids and Holland areas attending Notre Dame as part of the class of 2018. We’re thrilled you are joining the Notre Dame family. “Like us on Facebook” On the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 15, Brad Gregory, a Notre Dame professor of history and Dorothy G. Griffin Collegiate Chair, will give a Hesburgh Lecture titled, “The Reformation Era and the Makings of Modernity,” to a joint gathering of the Catholic Studies Program of Aquinas College and the St. Benedict Forum of Hope College. Gregory is the director of the Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study and a historian of late medieval and early modern Christianity and of intellectual history in early modern Europe. His research focuses on 16th- and 17thcentury Catholics, Protestants and radical Protestants in England, France, the Low Countries and Germany. Of central concern to his work as well are the long-term ideological influences and institutional consequences of the Reformation era on the making of the modern Western world. Another area of interest is methodology and theory in the understanding of religion and history. Watch your email and our Club website for a specific time and venue for this lecture. Hal’s wife, Sharon, along with many family and friends were there to support Hal. Hal has been a member of the University’s Hesburgh Library Advisory Council since 1998 and Hal and Sharon established a library endowment at Notre Dame. Hal also has been a strong supporter of our Club’s Golf and Scholarship Invitational, which is our primary scholarship fundraiser. As is our tradition, Tim McMorrow lead the group in the singing of the Alma Mater to close out the evening.
