Established in 1855, Herbert Terry & Sons had a long
record of industrial achievement in the field of springs and
industrial fasteners, where the Terry name became known
and respected on a worldwide basis.
Today, Terry operates from a modern industrial base in
Redditch offering a comprehensive range of products for
use in industry, hardware, sanitary, automotive, marine
and domestic environments. Terry, since October 1999,
is part of the Swedish ABA group of companies an
internationally leading firm in the fields of hose and pipe
clamps and connectors. ABA also has manufacturing
plants in the USA, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Holland,
Czech Republic and Poland.
In this catalogue you will find many additional products to
complement the traditional Terry range. As a fully integrated
brand of the ABA Group, Terry offers customers many
options in clamping types and materials. For example
we offer three grades of stainless steel – AISI 430,304
and 316. Many types of hose clamps to suit almost every
possible application are to be found in this brochure.
Quality is of great importance to us and we enjoy the

BRITISH STANDARD BS5315:1991
Our ‘Powergrip’ range of worm drive hose clips is produced to the exacting
requirements of BS5315:1991. This standard, met by only a few manufacturers, ensures consistent performances, combining ease of assembly with
secure sealing.
Low free torque! Powergrip hose clips have low free torque to allow the screw
to move freely during assembly under a torque of less than 1.5 Nm.
High tightening torque! The British Standard also requires clamps to be capable of withstanding high tightening torques. This ensures that ”Powergrip”
clips may be safely applied without fear of damage to hoses through overtightening.

Hydraulic pressure test - BS5315:1991 also specifies hydraulic pressure tests
to which ”Powergrip” are subjected during normal production testing. Details

Reliable
Our clamps are designed to have a clamping force reserve and not break.
They will reliably continue to develop a sealing force around the hose when
tightened 360° around the joint.
Clamping force meter
If you wish to compare the clamping force of different products, we can help
you on site with our portable measuring equipment. Once the clamping force
has been determined, a suitable level of corrosion protection can be selected
within our material range.

We continuously test systems of hoses, pipe ends, clamps and couplings at
our Technical Centre, in order to develop new products and to improve our
existing products.

Mechanical efficiency is one of our test parameters. An increase of tightening
torque does not always mean an increase in clamping force! Here the clamp
design and lubrication play vital roles. Our Technical Centre has state-of-theart equipment for testing of pressure, vibration and temperature variations
- essential parameters which over time will affect a hose or pipe connection.
Many customers have during recent years asked us to perform tests and give
technical advice concerning their specific applications.
In industry, the choice of clamp is important. Therefore, we have developed
a meter that measures the exact clamping force at eight points, directly after
installation and over extended periods of time. Tests have shown that our products achieve high clamping forces before breaking and thus ensure that the
customer has a clamping force reserve in the clamp to avoid blow-off or leakage over time. If you want Terry to perform tests for your specific need – just

Powergrip Bright Band Hose Clamps, to BS5315
Our “Powergrip” range of hose clamps is manufactured to BS5315 and
carries the Kitemark stamp of approval. Produced on highly automated
machines, the new clamps have a bright shiny finish.
Material: Band and Housing – Aluzinc high strength steel including
extra treatment to give a shiny finish.
Screw – Zinc plated steel.
Characteristics: Increased clamping force – high, even clamping force
around the hose means no leakage. Improved corrosion resistance – up to
three times greater than zinc plating. Tighter tolerances due to precision
stamping and minimal torque spread. Produced under the highest degree of
process quality control.

The Terry Stainless SX range is a fully stainless steel option where corro­sion

Powergrip Thumbscrew Clamps
The ”Powergrip Thumbscrew” range is based on the ”42” series of Power­grip
hose clamps. Manufactured with a plastic wing, the thumbscrew has a low
free-turn torque and is easy to use. It seals at relatively low torques, necessary
for finger operation

Tradition with Technology Aquaclip Stainless Steel and Acid Resistant
The “Aquaclip” range of hose clamps is produced in two grades of austenitic
stainless steel – Type 304, Type 316 – acid resistant.
Characteristics
The bands have a smooth inner surface which grips the hose firmly whilst
ensuring hose protection due to the rolled up band edges. The housing is made
from a steel tube which is custom designed having only some hundredths of a
millimetre manufacturing tolerance. The clamp with a unique one-piece housing design is very strong and also develops a high circumferential sealing force
around the hose.
The three precision made parts combine to create the best characteristics for
stainless steel clamps on the market.
The heavy-duty range of stainless steel hose clamps has been designed to
reliably seal the hoses. It is one of the strongest worm drive hose clamps made
and has the advantage over nut and bolt type clamps in having a larger adjustment range, thus reducing stock requirements and being considerably lower in
cost. The 316 clamp develops the highest clamping force around the hose of
all clamps in our wide range.

SX 9 W1, W2, DIN 3017
The SX 9 clamps with 9 mm band width are one of our most universal and
popular products. It is flexible and precise in all parameters at the same time.
The dominating screw type is the 7 mm hex head screw with combi-cross slot
and in W3-4 with slot.
The standard range is from hose diameters of 8 mm up to 160 mm.
Larger sizes, special sizes and W3 clamps can be made upon request.

SX 9 Plus W2, DIN 3017
The SX 9 Plus has been developed taking into account most exacting requirements of design and production demands from industrial users. We recommend
this clamp in particular for small diameter ranges, sensitive hoses and critical
connections.
No risk of hose damage thanks to a completely smooth inside of the band. The
housing of the SX 9 Plus is compactly designed. This clamp is avai­l­able in W2
material.

The SX 12 clamps are used where more clamping force is requested and by
that often in relation with larger hoses. The dominating screw type is the 7 mm
hexhead screw with cross slot and in W4 with slot.
The standard range is available up to 160 mm, but larger sizes, special sizes
and W3 clamps can be made upon request.

SM 9 W1, W4, DIN 3017
The SM Clamp is capable of distributing radial forces with great efficiency and
has a band which is smooth on both the inside and outside. It is used where
safety is of prime importance and on relatively hard tubes, such as petrol and
gas hoses etc.
The SM Clamp, also known as Nut- and Bolt Clamp, often acts as a better seal
on small diameter hoses than other hose clamps. The thin band fits around the
hose precisely and as a result gives a high clamping force and a high pull off
resistance force.

The nut on the SM Clamp is captive and cannot be lost, which is a decisive
safety advantage in engine maintenance for example.
The SM 9 Clamps are available as standard in W1 (aluzinc band) and W4
materials up to diameter 21 mm.

Mini Standard and Stainless Steel
Mini clips are particularly suitable for small diameter, thin wall hoses.
Features include:

These clamps have a narrow ( 5mm) band width. They are used on thin walled­
hoses where pressure is low and access may be difficult.

Terry KIT – The easy banding system
Terry KIT banding systems are available in large dispensers or small retail
packs. Each kit contains a roll of banding and a number of housings/screws.
Housing types are “quick-lock” (QL) or “fixed” (FX).

Retail packs contain 3 metres or 5 metres of banding , depending on bandwidth. Industrial packs contain 25 metres of banding.

Terry Tool Clips are produced in high quality spring steel. They are produced
according to industrial and professional users‘ demands but are also frequently
used in the d-i-y sector. The closed type is our most popular clip, also available
in an assortment box (code no. 80.00.6) for display and over-the-counter sales.

These are used for pens, pencils and special measuring tools and small handtools in tool and brief-cases, pockets etc.
They have a grip diameter range of 7 – 15 mm and they are 11.0/25.5/40.0 mm

SQ Retaining Clamps (Rubber-lined clips)
Primarily used for securing pipes, tubes and cables in place. The rubber lining
absorbs vibration, prevents chafing and also insulates.

A very strong heavy-duty double band clamp. Also available in a double screw

Exhaust Pipe Clamps
The Exhaust Pipe Clamp was originally designed by ABA in collaboration with
the automotive industry to provide a high and even tightening force around the
entire pipe, minimize leakage and be vibration proof. The wide range of standard
clamps covers most vehicles. Stainless material is avail­able on request.
Self-locking screw is standard on 2,0 and 2,5 gauge clamps and facili­tates
quick and easy tightening with one hand. 1,5 mm and 3 mm are supplied with
hexagonal screws. Clamps of size R 71 and larger are not kept in stock.

Pipe Clamps
Our standard M8 pipe clamps meet quality standards and are suitable for use
with a wide range of pipe diameters. Pipe clamps are not used only in exhaust
systems. Other applications include TV aerials, road signs etc. M10 pipe

Serratub 1
The Serratub 1 range of clamps features the unique quick-lock housing for rapid
assembling to the hose. The flexible and perforated band is made of stainless
steel in 9 or 12 mm band widths. Band edges are rolled up for improved hose
setting.

Serratub 2
Apart from having the unique quick-lock housing, the Serratub 2 range of
clamps is supplied with a solid band 9 mm wide. The underside of the band is
completely smooth to prevent hose damage and possible leakage. Band edges
are rolled up. A very powerful clamp, easy to fit.
Material: Screw and housing: Electro zinc plated. Band: Aluzinc.

threading this clamp is extremely versatile in its clamping range.

Serratub Maxi
The Maxi clamp is designed for quick-lock tightening and releasing of large
diameter hoses and supplied in a solid or perforated band execution. The solid
band is completely smooth to give a smooth contact surface to the hose. The
ideal clamping product for larger hose diameters over 100 mm. These clamps
are designed to allow a wide clamping range in combination with the quicklock housing that eases the assembly time and the stock range needed for low
volume, large hose applications.
Maxi 1/W2B: 9, 12 mm perforated band, AISI 430.

Ear clips are a cost effective and simple alternative to worm drive hose clips.
They require a tool for effective assembly and are not re-usable.
