Awards: 3303 Water Street Green Roof Nominated, Best Private Plots
Lisa Delplace, ASLA, principal and CEO, OvS, was the lead designer on this shared
garden that transformed an industrial roof into a visual and environmental amenity
for the residents of a downtown condominium building in Washington, DC. The
international Best Private Plots competition was juried by Jane Amidon/USA, Petra
Blaisse/Netherlands, Erik Dhont/Belgum, Edouard Francois/France, and Jane Bihrde Salis/Switzerland. The awards will be announced on September 27, 2008

gardens and pool for this home in an historic district just outside Washington,
DC, striking an appropriate balance between traditional architecture and the
exuberance of Oehme van Sweden’s New American garden style.
• Sculptor Raymond Kaskey was on hand for the official unveiling of his sculptural pool rail, which was recently installed at James van
Sweden’s home on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Kaskey and van Sweden previously collaborated on the World War II Memorial. Additional
castings of the pool rail will be available on a limited basis.

• August14 Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association Field Day. OvS Senior Associate Robert Hruby, ASLA, will speak onthe topic Sustainability in the Gardens of Oehme van Sweden at Tankard Nurseries on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
