SKIING
I
In Orcières, you can ski on 100 km
of trails, which are well covered in
snow thanks to the altitude (1850
and 2725m) and generously sunlit!
It is a place where one can ski facing
a vast panorama, breathing in the
large spaces while enjoying the
light from the South… The vast
majority of the area allows for family
fun skiing sessions, whatever the
skiing level. The « fans », those who
enjoy a more advanced kind of
skiing, also have plenty to satisfy
their thirst for sensations; there are
several beautiful more technical
slopes while also having fun in the
snow park and on the two « skier
cross » areas.

A SKIING AREA FOR EVERYONE
Orcières is a place for everyone. The ski area offers a nice balance when it comes to tracks or play areas.
Everyone will find what they are lookinf for !
Skiing at the age of 12 months is possible in Orcières, with the Baby snow, a machine which is similar to
snowscoot. Guided by an instructor or parents, the baby snow hits the tracks ...!
For those who want to make their first shuss, the resort offers initiation of an hour with an instructor, and
ski packages included. To ensure peace and quiet for new practitioners, the lesson takes place before
the opening.

A STATION « FAMILLE PLUS »

Orcières has always been a pioneer in providing for children
and families. With its accommodation offer (villages, clubs,
hotels, tourist homes), its services (sports hall, House of the
child), its family offers (‘Orcières invites children’) and its ski
area suitable for all ages (‘Opoualand’ fun trail, and the only
station to be equipped with 3x Télémix), Orcières remains a
station that is totally family-oriented.
It has indeed earned the Family Plus label, recognised by the
Ministry of Tourism.
Created to allow families to benefit from their holidays fully
and easily, this national tourist label – the only one of its kind
– is recognised by the French Ministry of Tourism. It selects
the French municipalities that meet the needs of families with
children in a way that is defined by quality. For group holidays,
it’s THE label to seek out!

OPOUALAND
A
A super fun and educational trail, dedicated to those between the ages of 6
and 12! Young skiers have fun in the fantasy world of Opoual, the friendly yeti
and the station mascot, on an attractionfilled trail (snow caves, snow catapults,
skill games…) and with a large history
book to discover all the mysteries of the
mountain. Moreover, a webcam has
been set so that they can see their own
skiing on the screen of their computer !
OPOUAL’S KINGDOM
If you see a yeti who goes by the name of Opoual, there’s no need to
panic ! Opoual is the mascot of Orcières «Labellemontagne». Directly
inspired from the imagination of children, Opoual is a star at the bottom of the slopes. As the children’s accomplice, he accompanies them
throughout their stay. And the children can have fun in his universe:
Opoualand ! And there’s more ! When they get their ski passes, the children receive a present: a backpack, stickers and a notebook to follow the
adventures of Opoual as they play !
WAOULAND
It is a crazy sledging zone, accessible to everyone.
The principle, hurtle down the slope on a trail punctuated by natural obstacles, jumps, banked turns
and whoops. Like the motocross, skiers and snowboarders can jump side by side, and make tactics up
to overcome their opponents.
It’ll swing on WAOULAND this winter!!

Piou Piou garden
First snow garden created in
France (in 1967!), « The Piou Piou
garden » welcomes those aged
between 3 and 6. Here it is the
place for space!
On this huge, fully equipped
playground (with trails and
teleskis) – one of the most
beautiful in France – children get
Petite Ourse 12
to have their first go on skis, under
the watchful eyes of the monitors
from the French Ski School (ESF).
But that’s not all: « Besides the
children learning how to ski, there
is also an educational factor in the
form of a story that they are told:
that of Piou Piou and his friends. It
aims to develop their motor skills.
The monitors integrate essential
concepts in their teaching
approach: such as pleasure,
freedom and imagination. » These
few words from Michel Joubert,
Director of ESF Orcières,
summarise the philosophy of the
place.
Child’s house
for the children’s happiness
The «Petite Ourse» is the home of the children. They are
treated like kings, everything is done for them ! The home
welcomes children aged 3 months old (or 6 months during
the summer) up to 11 years old (both winter and summer),
for a half day or a full day. Toddlers are cared for at the
«Oursons » nursery. Their universe is full of colours,
discovery games and constant attention thanks to the
permanent presence of the educators.
From the age of 3 years, the
Piou Piou children are
welcomed in the Snow
Garden. They can enjoy the
huge playground that borders
the Petite Ourse area. .
Here they will discover the
pleasures of the snow and
have their first rides on trails
that are prepared and
developed just like the adults’
ones, under the supervision of
ski monitors ! The « Éterlous »
Club (open during the
Christmas holidays, February
and summer) welcomes
children aged 6-11 who want
to come to the mountain but
don’t like skiing! They will get
treated to a multitude of
activities both indoors and
outdoors by skilled facilitators
who are « super nice ».

MULTIACTIVITIES
Skiing is no longer the sole interest during a stay in the mountains.

Orcières offers you both skiing and additional or alternative activities. All the surveys prove it : the
« skiing only » era is over. Nowadays, stations’ clients do not ski as much as they used to (today the
average is 4 hours a day, compared to 6-8 hours until the end of the 1980’s) and expect more diversity. In
order to meet the expectations of customers for whom skiing is no longer the sole interest during a trip
to the mountains, stations like Orcières have proven highly creative to offer an array of additional or
alternative activities, both sport and culture related.

The Rocherousse plateau is an
invitation to travel... a magic night in
an igloo, just like in the Far North,
while taking the time to admire the
Grande Ourse, or do aday trip with
sled dogs? The bestwould be to
discover them both!
An ancient Scandinavian activity,
joëring skiing is once again
becoming popular. Sporting short
skis (which are provided), you are
pulled along by a horse with the aid
of a team. After an introductory «
short tour », the big tour begins. With
great sliding sensations and a
beautiful moment shared with the
animal... all in natural surroundings!
Just the crackling of steps in
unknown silence, at the heart of
outstanding landscapes. When you
go snowshoes walking, you are
guaranteed a beautiful escape.
Orcières has 35 km of marked trails
and the guides offer you several
chances a day to go and discover
the Écrins Park or the Orcières park.

THE LARGEST ZIP LINE
IN EUROPE
If you like strong sensations, hold
on! Almost 2 km, at great speed (130
km/h !) on a steel wire. The Roll’Air
Cable offers maximum adrenaline in
the shortest of times, an incredible
sensation, that of flying...Open
summer / winter.

SNAKE GLISS
In Orcières, aerology allows for
flying throughout the year (with skis
during the winter), and it is practiced
in the «speed-riding» area, in
complete safety. Two-seater options
and training available.
Sleds attached in single file to form a
Snow Snake and create a large S on
the trail for a long, long, long
descent… As a family or in agroup,
it is a great moment, especially for
those located at the very end of the

comfortably in the sleigh to enjoy the

Riding on dog sleds is the inevitable
end of winter..
50 km of cross-country ski trail at the
leisure centre. You are in the middle

Drac… and, most of all, you breath
