She creates images on glass (bowls, vases, plates) that are beautifully crafted and designed bringing together colour, form and balance with a delightfully surreal narrative. The unique objects are startling in their originality and freshness. Barnes-Dacey’s work, including paper friezes have been sold in leading museums worldwide including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Louvre in Paris, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, New York, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Today she works out of her studio in Rome and in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, France. Study th e C las s i cal Art of D e coupag e w i th i nte rnat i onal ly acc la i m e d art i st, J i l l Barne s - Dac ey Whether it’s a ca.1400 Persian box covered in paper miniatures, an intricate Chinese artisan vase dating from 1525 or a rare piece of Venetian 17 th century inlaid wood, learn not only the history of decoupage but how to create its fine art of decorative or abstract compositions yourself to originate beautiful objet d’arts. The three or five day course is led by Jill Barnes-Dacey, who takes you through the introduction and history of decoupage as practiced through the centuries to the practical hands-on process and composition of creating your own work of art. C ou r s e I n f o r mat i o n : The Classes can be tailored to accommodate a particular group or theme. Through her teaching, Jill imparts a confidence and discipline essential in fostering the necessary skill and passion for this complex technique, which remains a somewhat rare expression of art. Students conclude the workshops having completed a substantial work on glass. The courses typically commence at 10:00 a.m. and run each day until 5 p.m. The cost of the three day workshop is £UK 1,500 and the five day workshop £UK 2,500 per student. All materials including glass objects, handmade papers and archive cutting paper are supplied and included in the fee.
