Okuninushi-no-mikoto, famous as the
Shinto deity of marriage. The annual
Kamiari-sai Festival is held in October of
the lunar calendar when it is believed that
the Shinto deities gather at the Izumo
Taisha shrine.

include 358 copper swords unearthed from Hikawa Town, a model of the

Yakumo Koizumi MAP
Lafcadio Hearn who introduced the culture,
customs and literature including ghost stories
to the rest of the world, had a Japanese name,
Yakumo Koizumi. residence which stores 820
of items including articles Hearn left behind
and photographs of him. The desk he had specially made because he was blind on his left
eye, his favorite pipe and so on are displayed.

The soba restaurant which is located next to Horai
Kichijitsuan looks out on to a beautiful Japanese
garden. Although they use whole buckwheat flour,
their soba noodles are relatively thin. They also use
rare oblong Warigo bowls for serving soba. The
soba-yu, the water used for boiling the noodles, with
egg white that comes with Sanmi soba has a unique
taste many people come back for.

The confectionary was founded in 1890. "Yamakawa" that was revived in the Taisho era is one
of the three most excellent Japanese sweets.
