Commitment to participate in all of the following disciplines is mandatory for Spirit of America Boating students.
Limited space is available.
Ohio Boating Education Course (OBEC)
Passing this one-day class is mandatory for further participation
in the program. Tutoring is available for those needing it. Parents
are also welcome to attend and earn their boating license for FREE.
**NOTE – Parent Orientation will be held 8-9 am concurrent
with each OBEC session**

Pool Instruction - Drowning Prevention (DP)
In-water pool session, we will introduce Spirit of America,
Drowning Prevention and Equipment Awareness. Includes proper
use of PFD and capsize rescues.

Training on the Water
Each week-long camp consists of 18 hours of on-the-water
opportunities as well as on-land instruction. There will also be
a day dedicated to personal watercraft instruction and a large
vessel educational experience with the U.S. Coast Guard.
Students meet at the Lorain Sailing & Yacht Club each day.
(Each Friday is an inclement weather make-up day.)
