Oct. 7, 2012
Heinz Field (65,564)
PITTSBURGH – K Shaun Suisham nailed a 34-yard field goal in the
rain as time expired to lift the Steelers to a 16-14 victory against the
Philadelphia Eagles at Heinz Field. It was Suisham’s fifth career gamewinning field goal and third as a Steeler.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Steelers found the end zone with five
minutes left before the half. RB Rashard Mendenhall, in his first game of
the 2012 season, scored on a 13-yard run to give the Steelers a 7-0 lead.
It marked Mendehall’s 30th career rushing touchdown, making him the
fifth Steeler to reach 30 career rushing touchdowns in the regular season.
Seconds before halftime, Suisham connected on a 20-yard field goal.
For the fourth consecutive game, the Steelers scored on their final drive
before halftime, and Pittsburgh took a 10-0 lead into halftime.
The Eagles responded midway through the third quarter when QB
Michael Vick found RB LeSean McCoy for a 15-yard touchdown to cut
the lead 10-7. Suisham connected on a 34-yard field goal early in the
fourth quarter to give the Steelers a 13-7 lead.
Philadelphia went 79 yards on 17 plays and took a 14-13 lead as Vick
found TE Brent Celek for a two-yard touchdown. The Eagles controlled
the football for more than eight minutes on the drive.
Pittsburgh took over with more than six minutes left in the game.
QB Ben Roethlisberger then led the team on a 14-play, 64-yard
drive to set up Suisham’s game-winning kick. It marked the 25th time
