The Steelers will appear in their eighth Thanksgiving Day game in team history in Week 12 (Nov. 24) at the Indianapolis Colts (NBC, 8:30 p.m.). Pittsburgh’s fourth nationally televised primetime contest occurs at the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 15 on Sunday Night Football, Dec. 18 (NBC, 8:30 p.m.). Pittsburgh will host the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16 (NFL Network, 4:30 p.m.) on Dec. 25 to mark the first Christmas Day game in franchise history. 1934 THROWBACKS IN WEEK 5 The Steelers will wear their 1934 throwback uniforms for the team’s October 9 contest vs. the New York Jets at Heinz Field. This will mark the fifth straight season Pittsburgh will wear their 1934 throwback uniforms. The team first wore these in 2012 during the team’s 80th season in professional football. COLOR RUSH ON CHRISTMAS DAY Pittsburgh will debut its ‘color rush’ uniforms on Christmas Day when the team hosts the Baltimore Ravens at Heinz Field. Steelers President Art Rooney II announced during halftime of the team’s first preseason game on KDKA-TV that the team’s ‘color rush’ uniforms will be all black with gold numbers. 2016 DRAFT CLASS CB Artie Burns (1st round, 25th overall): Started 23-of-36 games played at Miami and finished his Hurricane career with 93 tackles, 14 pass breakups, seven interceptions, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery....led the Atlantic Coast Conference with six interceptions in 2015, the most by a Hurricane since 2003 (Sean Taylor, 10), en route to earning All-ACC second-team honors. S Sean Davis (2nd round, 58th overall): Started 40-of-50 games played at Maryland and finished his Terrapin career with 318 tackles...led the Maryland defense with 70 solo tackles in 2015 (second with 88 combined stops), to go along with five forced fumbles (second in the nation) and three interceptions. DT Javon Hargrave (3rd round, 89th overall): A a two-time SBN Sports Mel Blount Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference at South Carolina State in 2014-15....totaled 37.0 sacks, including 10.0 or more in each of his final two campaigns. LB Tyler Matakevich (7th round, 246th overall): The Temple all-time leading tackler with 493 stops, became the first school defensive player to earn first-team All-America honors and the first at any position since 1986 (Paul Palmer)...was the only player in the FBS to lead his team in tackles in every game in 2015, and became just the seventh player in NCAA history to eclipse the 100-tackle plateau in four seasons. STEELERS VS. ROOKIE QBS SINCE 2004 Since 2004, the Steelers have had tremendous success against rookie quarterbacks. Including the postseason, the Steelers are 19-2 against teams that start a rookie quarterback. EAGLES Pittsburgh 16, Philadelphia 14 Oct. 7, 2012 Heinz Field (65,564) PITTSBURGH – K Shaun Suisham nailed a 34-yard field goal in the rain as time expired to lift the Steelers to a 16-14 victory against the Philadelphia Eagles at Heinz Field. It was Suisham’s fifth career gamewinning field goal and third as a Steeler. After a scoreless first quarter, the Steelers found the end zone with five minutes left before the half. RB Rashard Mendenhall, in his first game of the 2012 season, scored on a 13-yard run to give the Steelers a 7-0 lead. It marked Mendehall’s 30th career rushing touchdown, making him the fifth Steeler to reach 30 career rushing touchdowns in the regular season. Seconds before halftime, Suisham connected on a 20-yard field goal. For the fourth consecutive game, the Steelers scored on their final drive before halftime, and Pittsburgh took a 10-0 lead into halftime. The Eagles responded midway through the third quarter when QB Michael Vick found RB LeSean McCoy for a 15-yard touchdown to cut the lead 10-7. Suisham connected on a 34-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to give the Steelers a 13-7 lead. Philadelphia went 79 yards on 17 plays and took a 14-13 lead as Vick found TE Brent Celek for a two-yard touchdown. The Eagles controlled the football for more than eight minutes on the drive.
