Custom, Hand-made Ceramic Tiles
Implement design without compromise
From a design standpoint, the most important feature of custom art tiles
is the freedom to create. Inspiration can come from anywhere. Want to
match the intricate iron railing? What about the Spanish moulding or a
stained glass window? Need reproductions of an art tile that is no longer
manufactured? Or a new creation that will be introduced for the very first
time. The possibilities are limitless.
In-house manufacturing allows full control
By fabricating in-house, we have complete control over every aspect
of the tiles allowing for an unlimited selection of colors, textures, sizes,
shapes and quantities. The tiles are manufactured to the specifications
of the design and use the best materials for the job site. A heavily used
walkway, pool and a backsplash will require different materials. Custom
tiles allow for these individual specifications without
limitations. We maintain a firm philosophy of never compromising
quality. Although we have implemented a stream lined
process, we still produce each tile manually so that we
can achieve the highest look, feel and quality of the
tiles. Each tile is a piece of art - it captures the fragile
elements of beautiful mistakes that the accuracy of laser cuts cannot
achieve.
Since we manufacture on site, you have the opportunity to come and
view the progress, get your questions answered immediately and obtain
samples in a timely manner.
Custom tiles provide solutions
Our proficiency in problem solving enables us to provide solutions to some of today’s
common and most challenging design issues and produce extraordinary results. • Tiles that are meant to be used to cover a curved
surface can be bent during the drying process of
the raw clay to exactly fit the arched shape. • Rather than using standard size tiles and
trying desperately to manipulate grout lines
to hide uneven cuts, tiles can be produced to
accommodate variances.
• We can create almost anything made from clay
including water spouts, sinks, roof tiles, moldings
and sculptural elements.
Pasadena Showcase House of Design 2008
The designer approached Eli and after reviewing the design requirements gave him
carte blanche to create art tiles. Computer simulation drafts were created in order to test
compositions, patterns, and colors. The result is a fine example of the possibilities that
hand crafted tiles hold...No limitations of shape, size or color - Possibilities as wide as the
imagination.
Wall mounted sink
The sink was designed and cut to follow
the exact shape of the walls and was hand
made by Eli’s Tiles. It was then glazed to
match the antique pewter hand made tiles
that surrounds it. Blue copper glass tiles
inserts were used as decorations following
the pattern of the hand made tiles.
Custom Glass Mosaic Toilet
Started as a simple white toilet and was
customized by Eli’s Tiles to fit the style
and color scheme of the bathroom. The
toilet was mosaiced using the same
glass tiles as are on the sink as well as
custom antique pewter tiles as trims to
assure flawless continuity throughout
the space.
The Open Shower
Antique pewter tiles cover the entire
walls. The back wall ornament was
hand crafted by Eli’s Tiles to add an
additional authentic design element.
Brown copper glass tile inserts were
used to accent the multiple design
elements.
Benedict Canyon Dome 2007
Since square tiles do not fit nicely on a round dome, the architect came to Eli to create a
custom solution for the impressive 700 square foot dome. After reviewing the blueprints,
Eli created a solution using commercial glass tiles and handmade pieces to create a flawless
effect.
After the colors and design were finalized, templates were taken of the dome circumference
and structure. The tiles were manufactured to a custom fit. On site service was provided
to ensure that the installation team was able to create the desired result.
La Mision Hacienda 2009
The client approached Eli directly because they were looking for an interesting way of
getting the water into the pool instead of using a garden hose. It was important for the
client that the fountain and pool embodied the local artisan community. Next they wanted
an outdoor shower that could be an art piece on its own. So Eli came up with a design for
that, too.
After meeting with the builder and discussing the structure and mechanic details, final
designs were agreed upon and implemented.

About Eli
As an active artist, Eli has been creating ceramic art works for over twenty years. After
completing art school in Israel, he moved to Los Angeles. He worked as a freelance artist
and was commissioned for many projects, including the opening of the Andy Warhol
exhibit for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
His art always displayed multiple dimensions and had the essence of functionality. Although
the art world was exciting, it was difficult to make ends meet. He craved the opportunity
to apply his artistic expertise into truly functional art and make a living. Introduced by friends, Eli created a unique ceramic art piece as a gift for
Michael and Amelia Kienzl. Amazed by the simplicity yet extraordinary
details, they wanted to go into business with Eli to manufacture ceramic
art pieces. Since they owned Bradco Kitchens and Baths showroom in
Los Angeles, they felt that unique ceramic tiles would be an ideal fit. Today Eli enjoys running the art tile shop as he is able to continue to
express his creativity while providing functional art work and delivering
solutions for his clients.
