Planning a Memorable Party for Your Cutie

The cake has been cut, the presents have been unwrapped, and
party favors have been sent home with friends and family. There
may be some clean-up left, but the fruits of your labors have
resulted in a memorable time for that special birthday boy or girl in
your life. Your child’s birthday is one of the most anticipated events
of the year in your family, and from the first birthday to sweet 16
and beyond, Cy-Fair families are finding creative ways to celebrate,
whether at home or at a local venue.
The Comforts of Home
Parents of young children from the ages of 1 to 3 often opt to have
birthday parties at home, choosing to have an intimate party with
friends, family, and their child’s play group. Ambra Kent of Cypress
chose to celebrate her daughter, Rowan’s first birthday at home.
“We decided to have our daughter’s first birthday at our house,
because we knew as a 1-year-old she would feel more comfortable
in her home environment,” she says. “You never know with a
1-year-old how things are going to go and when they decide they
will need a surprise nap, so having her birthday at our house was
just the best decision we could make for our family.”
To host a memorable party at your home, make all the necessary
preparations well in advance. Choose a theme with personality,
organize age-appropriate games, find unique party favors, make

sure there is enough seating for everyone, and provide some
yummy food and beverages for both the children and invited
adults.
Party Places with Pizzazz
For children as young as toddlers, choosing a Cy-Fair venue
can provide a special birthday celebration for your cutie, while
saving you time organizing and cleaning up. Local party places
such as Little Divas, Build a Bear, and Chuck E. Cheese may offer
birthday packages tailored to how much you wish to spend per
invited child. Other venues, such as Gymboree Play and Music, can
organize games for groups of small children. Cy-Fair mom Angie
Edwards says as her two daughters, Kaitlyn, 12, and Dominique,
6, have gotten older, it’s been easier to host birthday parties away
from home. “The offsite locations for parties are perfect, since
they include everything your party would need, including a party
specialist, which makes things easier for you and your guests,” she
says.
Popular options for Cy-Fair kids who are a little older include
bowling, swimming parties, Lazer X of Cypress, Pump It Up, or

activities based on age, and coach-led activity stations. At K2
Academy, parents can upgrade from the basic package to include
items such as snacks, a cake, invitations, and paper goods. The
Little Gym birthday packages include a qualified birthday leader
and assistant, set up and clean up, paper goods, drinks, and
invitations. Cypress Academy says their parties aren’t just for little
kids and that big kids up to 16 years old can celebrate there, too.
Because days and times are limited as to when parties can be held
at many places, book your cutie’s birthday bash several months in
advance.
Little dancers can get their grooves on at Cypress Dance, which
offers birthday parties for kids that include a dance lesson in cha
cha, swing, salsa, or hip hop. For the musically inclined, Cy-Fair
Music and Arts offers a Kindermusik birthday party for children 6
months to 7 years old, with fun activities for adults and kids alike.

Whether you choose to throw a memorable birthday bash at home
or a Cy-Fair party place, planning early can help you nail down the
details and better enjoy the big day. Kent began planning Rowan’s
birthday party when she was 6 months old, choosing a circus
theme because of the primary colors she could use in the party
decorations. She also says the circus represented a classic fond
memory dear to many children.
Being organized and having someone to assist you with the details
can help take some of the burden off of you, as Kent discovered.
