New Go Center at Santa Maria High School
This school year students will now have even more opportunities and assistance to persue a college or
university education with the implementation of the new Go Center on campus. It serves as a point of
coordination between students, P-12 counselors, and institutions of higher education. At the Go Center,
students will find a variety of resources to help them better prepare and plan for college. Students also
have access to a full time College and Career Readiness Facilitator, Mrs. Nancy Vallejo and Counselor,
Mrs. Celest Gonzalez all in the same center to help them with College and Career Plans.
New Football Uniforms
The Cougar Football Team
will be sporting new
uniforms on the field this
year. The new uniforms
provide cooling
technology for athletes on
the field. The helmets
have also been given a
fresh coat of paint this
year. Go Cougars!!!
Santa Maria’s New Band Uniforms
This year’s band will have
new uniforms to wear on the
field Friday nights. The
uniforms will also be used
for Pigskin Jubilee where the
band will compete against
other local bands. The band
will also be marching on
Friday nights as well. Great
Job...Cougar Pride #1
Mr. Garcia’s Interactive Classroom- Graphic Organizing Wall
This school year, teachers came in exited and
ready to work. Mr. Garcia, U.S. History,
Economics and Government Teacher took this to
the next level. He painted permanent Interactive
Graphic Organizers on his wall. Graphic
organizers are very helpful in helping students
visualize the curriculum for student learning.
Taking time on weekends before the start of the
school year, Mr. Garcia spent it on creating the
perfect learning environment for his students.
SMHS Lady Cougarettes
This year welcomes a new drill and dance team
called the Lady Cougarettes to Santa Maria High
School. The team includes: Ishmael Levier,
