The West London Shooting School has run
simulated game days for over 15 years. Our
“Game Flyer Day” blends the spirit of a days
shooting in the country with the thrill and
speed of clay pigeon shooting.
The ‘season’ starts in April and runs until
mid-August. We shoot at some of the country’s
most beautiful and famous shooting Estates:
• Ashcombe (Wiltshire)
• Chavenage (Gloucestershire)
• Great Tew ( North Oxfordshire)
• Hambleden (South Oxfordshire)
• Kings Walden (Hertfordshire)
It is a fraction of the price of a game
shoot and run exactly like a real shoot,
with the only difference being that you are
shooting clays. There are eight pegs per drive,
with two guns per peg who take it in turns to
shoot or load. The day includes five magical
drives, elevenses, lunch and afternoon tea.

Located within minutes of Shaftesbury
and sitting on top of Cranbourne Chase,
Ashcombe is one of the finest game
shoots in the country known for it’s
exceedingly high birds. It is equally as
impressive as a Game Flyer Shoot with
some wonderfully varied shooting
including the famous ‘Win Green Gully’.
Alongside this, the Estate provides their
luxurious ‘Gun Bus’ for the party to travel
in. All of this goes to make a day spent at
Ashcombe so very special.

CHAVENAGE ESTATE
Set in the heart of the Cotswolds, the shoot is
based around the 400 year old manor house. A day
spent at Chavenage is one to remember. Starting
with breakfast in the Great Hall followed by lunch
and then afternoon tea in the splendor of the
ball room. The Lowsley‐Williams family always
make you feel at home.
The shoot itself has traditional Partridge and
Pheasant drives and a thrilling Woodland Drive
called ‘40 Yard Gulley’ which sees the guns
snap‐shooting at clays as they pass over the ‘ride’
between two woods.

‘The Ultimate Mixed
Species Day’
The quintessential English Estate, Great Tew is
situated just ten miles south of Banbury and shows
a brilliant variety of drives including ‘Cottenham
Bank’, which is as good a Parkland Pheasant drive as
one could wish for. The real thrill of Great Tew is the
Driven Grouse at ‘Raven Hill Moor’, a drive unique to
both this estate and to our Game Flyer Days.
Few other southern shoots boost has a full line of
8 stone grouse butts which provide birds that are
challenging and exhilarating with low coveys, fast
pairs and even birds going back across the line.
Finally, feel the electricity and anticipation as you
sit in our hide on the edge of Grove Ash pond for
our new Duck Flight. All catering is served in the
stunning shooting lodge.

part of the Culham Estate in Oxfordshire.
With mature beech woods, rolling pastures,
parkland and unspoilt chalk valleys it is the
perfect setting for a variety of
thrilling and testing simulated drives.
Situated just one hour from Central
London makes this a very accessible
option.
The Woodland Lodge, in a scenic,
location is your base for the day where
you meet & return for
lunch and
afternoon tea will be served. With a
beautiful and unique interior, we will
cater for your every need. There can be few
better places to meet and enjoy a day’s
sport so close to London.

Kings Walden is set in the rolling chalk land
of Hertfordshire (Hitchin Hundred).It is the
home of Sir Thomas Pilkington and family
and, it was a former Royal hunting estate
in the time of King Edward I.
This is an exciting private game
shoot of some note and the terrain
provides the opportunity to present
down land and traditional partridge as
well as high quality pheasants. We meet
in the kitchen and return for lunch in the
dining room as if you are family guests.
Finally, it is very easily accessible from
London by car and train (only 40 minutes
from St Pancras).

For individual guns and small groups we offer Syndicate
Days on several of our
Estates:
Ashcombe, Great Tew, Hambleden & Kings Walden.
These days are ideal for anyone wanting to keep their
eye in, as practice really does make perfect; for anyone
wishing to repay a shooting invitation; or for groups of
friends who just want to have fun.

ITINERARY
9:00am: Arrive for bacon rolls, tea and coffee
9:45am: Shoot briefing and set off for the first drive
10:00am: With the guns on their pegs, we start shooting the first drive
11:45am: After two drives, we break for refreshments and refill cartridge bags
1:00pm: Lunch served in the House or Shoot Lodge
2:15pm: After lunch there are two more drives, the first of which is competitive
4:30pm: Afternoon tea is served
Please note: All standards are welcome from novices to Olympic champions. The West London
Shooting School requires all novices to be accompanied by an instructor with 1 instructor per two
novices. If, in the opinion of the WLSS shoot host, a guest is not able to shoot to a sufficient
standard, they may be asked to stop shooting. Please speak to us to let us know your requirements in
advance. Unfortunately Game Flyer days are NOT suitable for complete beginners, but can be a valuable
learning opportunity following on from a course of lessons to prepare you for a real days shooting.
Guests wishing to have alcohol served at lunch must ‘shoot through’ and finish with a late lunch, which
can be arranged in advance.
Gun Hire is available at the cost is £65.00 + VAT per gun per day. Cartridges are available to purchase on
the day at £45.00 per 250. Hire of 4x4 vehicle can be arranged on request. Price confirmed at time of
booking.
