Being born and brought up in the Middle East, he is deeply connected to his Bengali roots and is fascinated with Bengal. He's been the man behind the camera Somwrita Nag Somwrita is an undergraduate student of History at Presidency University, Kolkata. She completed her schooling from St. Joseph's Convent, Chandernagore. Her hometown is Chandernagore. She strongly feels that despite having such a wonderful history, Chandernagore never got the exposure it deserves. She is extremely pleased that such a project has been undertaken by Aishwarya Tipnis Architects and that she has been able to involve herself in it. She hopes that the recognition and publicity that has been long overdue for Chandernagore will finally arrive upon the completion of this project Mukulika Kashyopi Mukulika has done her graduation in French (Honours) from Chandannagar College. She feels that despite being a resident of Chandernagore, she is not completely aware of the rich heritage and history that this city has. As a contributor to this project, she believes that she has been given a great opportunity to know her city better. She wishes to highlight all the nuances of Chandernagore's past, to the people of Chandernagore and its well wishers, as a beautiful city and as a former French colony. Asmita Dey Ashmita is a student of Ancient History, currently pursuing her postgraduation at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She belongs to an old family which has been based in Calcutta for six generations (and counting). Rakshit Bhavan located in Lalbagan, which is the residence of one of the most renowned families of Chandernagore, is her father's maternal home and birthplace. Thus, Chandernagore is very close to her heart as it has played an important role through the twenty-one Durga Pujas of her life. Being a part of this project gave her the opportunity to salute Chandernagore for all the glory it holds Heritage &People of Chandernagore|3 Amrita Sen Amrita is pursuing her Bachelor’s of Arts in French at the Department of French, Dupleix College, Chandernagore. She completed her schooling from St. Joseph’s Convent, Chandernagore. She contributes the different perspective of a Chandernagore resident to the project. She has a passion for exploring her hometown and uncovering hitherto unknown details of its heritage Rudraraj Malik Rudraraj Malik is a postgraduate student of South and Southeast Asian studies at Calcutta University. He completed his Bachelor’s in Economics from Vidyasagar College, Calcutta University. He enjoys inclusively collaborative work and seeks to face the complex and interesting challenges and opportunities that this project throws up. Paromita Adhikary Paromita Adhikary is a final year undergraduate History student at Presidency University, Kolkata. She hails from Bandel, a settlement formerly controlled by the Portuguese. The French heritage of Chandernagore has interested her since her childhood. She wants to understand the Franco-Bangla culture of Chandernagore placed in a broader context of the Hooghly “Little Europe” belt of former colonies settled by different European powers Manvi Agarwal Manvi is a native of Kolkata and is currently studying for her BA (History) at Presidency University Kolkata. Manvi has been working as part of the core team at Aishwarya Tipnis Architects (ATA) since January 2015 on unearthing the hidden layers and stories related to the history and heritage of Chandernagore. Manvi is greatly intrigued at working on a live project that brings history out from the books right into the heart of the city and is inspired to work towards how history can bring about positive change and shape our tomorrow. Heritage &People of Chandernagore|4 Sanket Biswas Sanket is a native of Kolkata and is currently studying architecture at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and is working as an intern with Aishwarya Tipnis Architects (ATA) since January 2015. Sanket holds a deep rooted interest in literature and traditions in Bengal and is intrigued by finding meaning and relevance of the cultural heritage in the youth of Bengal. He has been working on valorising the heritage of Chandernagore and preparing databases as part of the archiving process. Udit Sarkar Udit a native of Kolkata, is trained as an architect from the Piloo Mody College of Architecture, Orissa and is working as a architect with Aishwarya Tipnis Architects(ATA)since 2014. Udit has a passion for photography and wants to use alternate mediums such as film and photography to create heritage consciousness.Udit's job as the Project Architect is to work with the community as well as coordinate and manage programmes as part of the Project. Samragee Paul Samragee is an architect from Apeejay School of Architecture and Planning and has been with ATA for over a year. Samragee is interested in project implementation and management. Her calm and meticulous disposition was instrumental in coordination and on time delivery of the Heritage & People of Chandernagore Website. Heritage &People of Chandernagore|5 Judging of the Competitions on 19th August 2015 at IdC An entire day was spent at IdC on19th august to judege all theentries of the competitions. Mr Raju Raman, Ms Rita Bhimani and the then French Consul Fabrice Etienne were the esteemed judges. Heritage &People of Chandernagore|6
