The Education Department is happy to announce that our beloved Hudhur (aba) will Insha'Allah be presiding a special
educational session exclusively with students during his historic visit to the West Coast.
The sessions will be open to all of the following students across the nation: High school seniors (graduating from high
school in the next two months), college students, and graduate students (i.e. students working towards professional
degrees such as masters' and PhD programs, law, medicine, engineering, etc).
The MENS' session will take place (Insha'Allah) on MONDAY, MAY 6 at 5:30 pm at Baitul Hameed Mosque
The WOMENS' session will take place (Insha'Allah) on THURSDAY, MAY 9 at 6:45 pm at Baitul Hameed Mosque

Ho w to prepar e spicy C hutney?
Ingredients:
1. Cilantro leaves 4 packs
2. Mint leaves one pack
3. Salt (as per taste)
4. Green spicy chillies (as per taste)
5. Garlic (as per taste)
6. One Lemon
7. Amchoor (Mango powder) 3 tb. sp.
Put all these things in blender and grind
till it becomes homogeneous.

Time to Spring into some gardening!!!!
Spring is a great time to start a vegetable garden. Gardening is a fun outdoor
activity for the whole family and you can be proud of your efforts when it
comes time to harvest and enjoy the fruits (or vegetables!) of your effort.
Here are some tips
1. If you are new to vegetable gardening, start small. It is best to start with
something as small as 2 ft. by 4 ft. patch. The bed should be in a location that
receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. Nothing edible grows in the
shade.
2. Dallas soil is not good for growing vegetables. Purchase some Garden Soil
for your vegetable beds. Top soil is not the right soil, and potting soil is more
expensive type meant for containers

completely before turning.

to be kept safe? Do not throw the paper
away after peeling off the date sticker!

3. Start with easy vegetables. Okra and eggplant are fairly maintenance free
and don’t need much sprays. For okra, it is best to plant seeds directly in the
soil. For eggplant, it is best to purchase small plants from a store (such as
Walmart)
4. Be sure to build a small fence around your vegetable garden to keep out
rabbits and squirrels. The fence should be at least 2 feet high, and you can
build it from chicken wire fence (1in) available from Lowes / Homedepot.
5. Don’t let the vegetables over-ripen on the plant or the plant will shut
down production.
6. You can purchase many fertilizer types in the local stores. For pesticides,
be sure to read the label very carefully. Once you spray a vegetable plant with
the wrong kind of spray, there is no going back!
