LOAN OPTIONS to fit your needs… that’s GOOD
I, along with my husband Livio, own Safeguard Insurance
Group, located at 8106 US 19, in Port Richey. We have been in
business since 2004.
As an independent insurance agency, we are able to focus on
our client’s individual needs. We have many insurance companies
that we work with, for both personal and business insurance. We
work hard to find the right company at the most competitive rates.
We believe in building strong relationships with our customers
by taking the time to understand and find the right solution to
satisfy their insurance needs.
I have lived in the West Pasco area, since I was twelve years
old. I have raised my children here and now my grandchildren
are being raised here. This community is my home and I enjoy
supporting local businesses and giving back to the community,
by volunteering my time and resources where I can.
We joined the Chamber of Commerce during the “Invasion
to Business Success” membership drive, this year. Becoming an
Ambassador has helped me get my business in front of new
members as well as many existing members.
I am very impressed with the dedication of this Chamber, to
help local business succeed. I have made a lot of contacts and
friendships and met a lot of amazing people, during my involvement with Chamber!

Office of the
Sheriff
by Sheriff Chris Nocco
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office is always looking for ways to connect
and bond with the community. With that in mind, we will host
our first-ever obstacle course run in the woods surrounding the
Land O’ Lakes Detention Center. The event will be a fundraiser for
Pasco Sheriff’s Charities.
The Great Escape, which will take place Saturday, December 6,
is a timed 5K run and will feature numerous obstacles to challenge
your endurance. Runners will be pre-assigned a race start time.
Check-in begins on the day of the event at 7:00am, with the first
race starting at 8:00am. Participants will receive a T-shirt and a
medal for participating. Fastest runners in their age category will
also receive medals. Additionally, runners will have their photo
taken at the end of the race.
Many of these obstacles will involve water and mud, so be
prepared to get very dirty! The obstacles planned for the course
include:
• Monkey bars
• Arctic plunge
• Mud crawl
• Cargo net climb
• Great Wall of Pasco
• Balance beam
• Smoke house
• Mud slide
• Rope climb & swing
Timing chips will be available to those who wish for their run
to be timed. All teams must consist of five members, but you
can run as an individual if you choose. The obstacle run fee for
an individual escapee is $50 ($75 after Nov. 29) and the fee for
a five-person team is $225 ($300 after Nov. 29). You must be at
least 18 years of age to participate in the race.
To register and review the course, please visit our Pasco Sheriff’s
Charities website at PascoSheriffCharities.com. There is a link to
the Active.com website to enter your registration, including names
of team members and shirt size. Parking is free at the event and
spectators are welcome at only $5 a person. Kids 5 years old or
younger get in free. There will be an after-race party with music,
free food, and non-alcoholic beverages. There will also be bounce
houses and slides available for younger children.
I hope to see you at this event, which we hope will become
a Pasco County favorite in the years to come!

Superintendent of Schools: Kurt Browning
Take A Moment To Inspire Our Students
by Kurt S. Browning, Superintendent of Pasco County Public Schools
During the week of November 17, the Great American Teach-In
will be coming to each of our Pasco County schools. The TeachIn is a part of the District School Board of Pasco County’s annual
American Education Week celebration. This event is a great opportunity to interact with our students, share information about
your organization, and communicate to our future leaders what
you have experienced throughout your career. Your story could
inspire them to pursue a similar career field or pathway. Our
students need positive role models who take a moment to describe the opportunities available and provide advice on how to
Page 6 • Chamber News
successfully navigate obstacles. It truly means
the world to them.
If you would like to participate, you do not need to register as
a volunteer. Simply contact the school you would like to visit by
November 3. Opportunities are available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each
day during American Education Week. When you arrive at your local school, please check in at the office to pick up your nametag.
Staff will be available to help accompany you to your classroom.
Our students and I look forward to hearing from you.

Electronic Filing Update
On September 21, 2014, the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal
(ePortal) expanded services to a range of users and agencies. The
new upgrade allows court reporters, mediators, process servers,
law enforcement, state agencies, mental health professionals, and
similar entities to file court documents through the portal. Access
to the ePortal has many benefits for law enforcement and other
parties, including eService, a process by which all parties in a court
case are electronically served pleadings via email, eliminating the
time and materials necessary for paper service.
Electronic filing of court documents, eFiling:
• Provides users the ability to submit court documents
electronically 24/7. • Enables electronic service of documents to parties in a case.
• Facilitates case updates through the “My Filings” section of
the ePortal account.
The Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller’s Office has been accepting electronically filed documents through the ePortal since
April 2013. Additional information including excellent instructional
video and training manual on eFiling are linked on the Clerk &
Comptroller’s website under the Courts tab. Visit www.pascoclerk.

Election Preparation
Election season at the Supervisor’s office finds the staff, both
permanent and temporary, fully engaged. There are many facets
to managing elections from the broad spectrum of complying
with laws to the minutest detail of budgeting and planning for
how many pens each precinct will need. Execution of an election
plan requires coordination of efforts and checks and balances
as all tasks are dependent upon each other. Often it’s the sheer
numbers that make the logistics of elections challenging, but
eventually the pieces come together to create the big picture. Here is just a sampling of the numbers of “things” it takes to
prepare for elections:
- Sample Ballots mailed, one to each voter, specific

Due to cutbacks as a result of the economic downturn, many businesses
may be eliminating the traditional Holiday Office Party. If that is the
case you now have a place to go—the Ultimate Office Party being
hosted by Greater New Port Richey Main Street’s Hospitality Managers Association (HMA). The fun takes place in downtown New Port
Richey on Saturday December 6th from 7 pm to 2 am. The party is
part of the continuing series of downtown activities, where downtown
restaurants and taverns compete for bragging rights and prizes in
the areas of decoration and seasonal libations. That evening the
Downtown Art Gallery will be transformed into the North Pole, and
patrons will pick up their passport that will be used to cast their ballot
in the Ultimate Office Party contest. HITS 106 is returning for a LIVE
REMOTE in our downtown as our restaurants and taverns compete
for the Themed categories (decorations, costumes, drinks, etc.) The
participating establishments will be the member restaurants and
taverns in downtown New Port Richey. There will be a trolley available courtesy of Friendly KIA to take people from place to place and
return them to the Gallery where the votes will be tallied and the
winners announced.

Pasco County Public Transportation
Long Range Transportation Plan Development – Pasco County
Public Transportation (PCPT), in coordination with the Pasco County
Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has launched a major
update to the County Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). The
LRTP covers a minimum of a 20-year period and identifies current
and future transportation needs based on population projections
and travel demand. Several public involvement meetings were
held throughout 2014. Two additional workshops are scheduled
for November. The public is urged to attend and provide their
input. The workshops are designed as an open house event and
will be at the following locations, dates and times: West Pasco
Government Center Lobby, 8731 Citizens Drive, New Port Richey,
FL 34654 on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 5:30-7:30pm (PCPT
Bus Routes 14 & 23); also at the Alice Hall Community Center,
38116 Fifth Avenue, Zephyrhills, FL 33542 on November 19, 2014
from 5:30-7:30pm (PCPT Bus Routes 33 & 54).
New Bus Transit Service – PCPT Route 54 now provides service to the newly opened PHSC Porter campus located within
the Wiregrass Ranch. This new service began on September 29,
2014. This adjustment provides expanded access to the County
bus transit system for the students, while not eliminating any current destinations on the existing service. For more information,
please visit PCPT website at www.ridepcpt.com or call the PCPT
information line at 727-834-3322.
Free Rides to the Polls – Exercising your right to vote has just
been made easier. PCPT will be offering free rides on the fixedroute transit service to voters with a valid voter registration card.
Please check the location of your polling station in relation to
our routes to see if this would be a convenient way for you to
get there and back.
