Khoo, M.D. cou r s e Course Description MERC is excited to offer a collaborative learning, roundtable educational program focusing on complex minimally invasive (MIS) surgery. This unique one day training opportunity allows surgeons to advance their MIS education through collaboration among peers and surgeon faculty. The course agenda includes discussion on best-practices, case based exercises, and hands-on practical lab sessions. Participants will be asked to submit a complex case presentation that focuses on MIS advanced concepts and strategies. Space is limited to allow for maximum interaction and peer to peer collaboration. Below are the complex surgical techniques that will be available in the BioSkills lab: Lateral Techniques: • Anterior Longitudinal Ligament (ALL) Release • Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion (LLIF) with Direct Look® • Thoracic Approach to Lateral Corpectomy Posterior Techniques: • Minimally Invasive Corpectomy • Posterior Osteotomies (PSO, SPO, VCR) • Long Constructs and Iliac Fixation • Minimally Invasive Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF) Anterior Techniques: • Access and Exposure • Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF) If attending the anterior techniques portion of the course, we would encourage you to attend with your access surgeon. This unique training opportunity allows surgeons to work together from access to insertion in a cadaveric setting. Target Audience Enrollment in this course is open to practicing orthopaedic, neurological and vascular surgeons who manage the care of patients with spinal disorders. Cadaveric-based learning with a procedurally focused application of Globus Medical technology from start to finish.
