ron carter dear miles,
74906
Legendary bassist Ron Carter first stepped into the jazz
spotlight as a member of Miles Davis’s incomparable 1960s
quintet, and has since established himself as one of the most
prolific and venerable forces in the genre. Nearly 40 years after
his season with Miles, Carter pays tribute to his former
bandleader with this collection of tunes associated with the
great trumpeter, while also celebrating the dynamic chemistry
of his longtime working quartet.

On July 31, 2006, guitar legend Kenny Burrell celebrated his
75th birthday. This lifetime milestone was further heightened as
Kenny began to record his 99th album with live performances
from Yoshi’s in Berkeley, CA and the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in
Santa Cruz, CA. Highlights from these special performances
featuring such greats as Gerald Wilson and his Orchestra,
Hubert Laws, Joey DeFrancesco, and Herman Riley, have been
distilled into this wonderful album.
