The Spartans’ versatile offense is led by RB Nick Buonavolonta, who scored three TDs last week, and QBs Trae Robinson and Ryan Pollifrone. The Spartan defense has held five opponents to less than 20 points this season. Boardman has won three of the last four meetings with GlenOak. The Spartans shut out GlenOak last year, holding the Golden Eagles to two first downs and 61 yards of total offense. Bri’onte Dunn carried 14 times for 26 yards. Both teams possess talented safeties: GlenOak’s DaShawn Hall and Boardman’s Dayne Hammond. HEAD COACH Scott Garcia Date Aug. 27 Sep. 3 Sep. 10 Sep. 17 Sep. 24 Oct. 1 Oct. 8 Date Oct. 15 Oct. 22 Oct. 29 GLENOAK NOTEBOOK Opponent Woodson (D.C.) Massillon at Green at Jackson Fitch McKinley at Lake Opponent Boardman at Hoover Perry Result W, 42-2 L, 27-28 W, 27-23 W, 28-9 L, 21-43 L, 6-8 L, 13-34 Time 7:30 p.m. 7:30 p.m. 7:30 p.m. Inconsistent play, ill-timed mistakes and injuries have put the Golden Eagles in serious danger of missing the playoffs for the first time in head coach Scott Garcia’s four-year tenure. Winning out might get them in. GlenOak’s big plays have dried up. The Eagles haven’t had a TD play of more than 13 yards since Week 2’s outburst vs. Massillon, when RB Bri’onte Dunn ran for TDs of 78, 57 and 32 yards and WR Lunden Butler caught a 45-yard scoring pass. Butler, also a starting DB, was lost for the season last week, joining a growing list of the ailing. The defense was coming off a solid performance vs. McKinley, but the Eagles allowed 34 unanswered points last week.
