One of Europe’s foremost openair museums, it represents the life and culture of Wales set in 100 acres of parkland. On the Northern outskirts of Cardiff (7.4 miles) is Castell Coch. This is a late nineteenth-century 'fairytale'style castle, built on medieval remains. Lavishly decorated and furnished in the Victorian Gothic style, it offers a romantic vision of the Middle Ages. The city of Cardiff is 10 miles away. As the capital of Wales, Cardiff has much to offer, including a magnificent castle, a redeveloped bay, shopping centres and the National Museum and gallery.
