11TH Annual Allen University Richard Allen Awards to honor Ms. Henri E. Baskins,
Mr. Ray Conner and Rev. Solomon Jackson
Columbia SC (January 11, 2016) — Allen University will host its 11th Annual Richard Allen Awards/UNCF
fundraising event to raise critical scholarship dollars for Allen University students. The event will be held
Saturday, February 13th at the Columbia Marriott. Doors open at 11:30 am. The event includes an
extensive silent auction, live entertainment, and a Mardi Gras themed lunch.
Allen University was founded in 1870 with a mission to provide students the opportunity to obtain a
baccalaureate degree in liberal arts and professional programs. Allen offers undergraduate degrees in
Business, Math and Science, Religion and in the Humanities to both U.S. and International students.
Ninety-Eight percent of our students rely on scholarships to complete their degrees.
According to Dr. Flavia Eldemire, Director of Institutional Advancement, “Our goal this year is to raise
$250,000.00. Your attendance, monetary donations, auction items and table sponsorships will help
make this themed masquerade luncheon a success”. Attendees will have an opportunity to purchase
items from our silent auction gallery, listen to the soulful music of the Reggie Sullivan Band and enjoy a
delicious cuisine while contributing to our students’ academic goal of obtaining a college degree.
The event will also honor three community leaders that support Allen University, UNCF and the
Columbia community. The honorees are as follows:

Allen University will host its 11th Annual Richard Allen Award - UNCF Scholarship Fundraising
Masquerade Luncheon on Saturday, February 13, 2016, in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriot Hotel in
downtown Columbia, S.C. from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This annual fundraiser provides scholarships for
deserving students to attend Allen University. With your generous support, we can meet our target goal of
raising $250,000 for scholarship support.
Allen University was founded in 1870 with a mission to provide subtends the opportunity to obtain a
baccalaureate degree in liberal arts and professional programs. In 2015, Allen University admitted
students from 23 states and two countries. Ninety-eight percent of our students rely on scholarships
to complete their degrees. The Annual Richard Allen Award UNCF Scholarship luncheon raises critical
dollars for student scholarships.
The luncheon includes a silent auction, lunch, live entertainment and networking opportunities. Please
see the sponsorship packet included. Your sponsorship will help continue Allen University’s legacy of
leadership and service in the larger community.
