OBONG CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL # 1 IN AKWA IBOM STATE
Obong Christian High School is integrating ICT into the classroom, with increased
teachers / students access to learning resources and outstanding school wide achievements. The high school has the best result for all schools in Akwa Ibom state in the
2015 Senior Secondary Schools Examination (SSCE). This examination is conducted by
the West African Examinations Council for final year students in the 12th grade in
Nigeria. We have maintained the top spot since 2013, with more than 90% of our
graduating students gaining admission to the university yearly.

Students are now ready to enter Obong Christian High School in grade 7.
CHRISTIAN TRAINING CENTER
The Mother Hall, where everything began
many years ago, had become dilapidated
and the roof had caved in. The building is
being renovated into a training center to
help young men and women develop vocational and life skills.
It will teach them the Word of God and encourage them to use it to build strong Christian families. Vocational skills like tailoring,
computer studies, etc will be taught.
This will give people the opportunity to earn a living and to be able to contribute to the work of the church. It
will include those that have dropped out of school, with special emphasis on adolescent girls, who often have
reduced access to education and training. They are the major victims of sexual trafficking and abuse. The
program has the capacity to empower Nigerian youths socially, economically and spiritually and to help them
develop the capabilities to make scripturally sound decisions in life.
Seminar in Togo
Esang Akpanudo, his son Moses, and Mojima Etukudo were invited to Togo and Benin to attend a seminar on
effective house evangelism and church planting. In Togo and Benin more than half of the population are
idol worshipers. Voodoo originated from these two countries. In villages and towns animals are sacrificed
to voodoo gods for protection against bad luck. Most voodoo worshipers male and female dress only in a
white wrapper tied around the waist with small wooden voodoo dolls and charms tied around the waist for
protection.
The conference was organized by an American team to train French speaking Christians to become more
effective in evangelism.
Congregation and Evangelism News
The new congregation at Ikot Akpan Eyo.
This congregation is facing persecution from denominational leaders in the area.
Chief Uko Dan Baptized
Chief Dan is the village head of Obon Odo. This is a village
of about 900 people. When a Chief becomes a Christian
many people will follow his example.
One of our greatest needs at this time is to find funds to
build a small church building for the congregation at Ikot
Akpan Eyo and the congregation at Obon Odo.
In Nigerian culture a church is not considered a church
unless it has a building.
Door to Door Evangelism
An effective way to reach the lost in Nigeria is going door to
door. On their way back from visiting the new congregations,
the mission team stopped off in the village of Ikot Unoh and
four souls put on their Lord in baptism.

Obong University has completed the required post-probation period and is now fully
licensed to operate as a private university.

The Tusculum Church of Christ has set-up a book
fund to stock the library at Obong University. A
donation can be made In Memory or In Honor of a
loved one. Their name and the name of the one making the donation will be written inside the front cover
