Camp” FLY”, Day Camp is held in our outdoor area adjunct to the Y. Our CamperIn-Training program is housed in the child care facility. Specialty Camps are held in our After School Room at the Y. Camp is held Monday – Friday. We offer extended early morning care for all of our camps. Extended care hours are morning care 6:30 – 8:30 AM and Extended after care from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Camp FLY and Camper-In-Training Activity Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM Specialty Camp Activity Hours: 8:30 AM – Noon Extended afternoon hours are offered with Specialty Camps from Noon – 6:00 PM. Raising the bar one summer at a time. • BELONGING • ACHIEVEMENT • RELATIONSHIPS Camp “FLY” DAY CAMP (Fun Learning at the Y) Entering 1ST – 8th grade Join YMCA Day Camp for one day, one week or for an entire summer of fun! We focus on caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all of our activities, from educational camper-chosen skill sessions to swimming to arts and crafts and games. We provide fun-filled activities that allow for physical involvement, social interaction, educational opportunities, leadership building, personal growth and creativity. Day campers will be divided into groups by grade with activities appropriate to the interests and needs of each group. All children should bring a water bottle and wear closed-toed shoes to camp each day. Typical Day at Camp “FLY” and Camper-In-Training Each day of camp brings an exciting new adventure for your camper. The following is a sneak peek of your campers day at Y day camp. 6:30-8:30 am: Campers are offered a choice of structured activities during before-camp care. 8:30-9 am: Camp “FLY” Rates Non Refundable Registration Fee: $20.00 per camper The day kicks off with an opening ceremony of flag raising and announcements. Then campers meet up with their age group counselor to get ready for the day. Member Rate Sibling Rate $85/week 15% discount $20/daily rate 9 am–4 pm: Non Member Rate Sibling Rate $95/week 15% discount $25/daily rate Four times a week, Camp “FLY” will cool off in the Y’s pool! Your Campers-In-Training will swim on Thursdays. For Specialty Campers, their activities will be structured to fit the Specialty Camp. Strange & Unknown World Tour Let’s Be Crazy Earth Friendly Water World Summer Safari Old West County Fair Seafarers End of Summer Bash We designate some time for our campers to take a break and enjoy some quiet cool-down time. This doesn’t mean a nap time, however our younger campers will be given an opportunity to lay down for a nap. Campers can read a book, play board games, take on an art project or participate in spirit-mind-body talks. 3:45–4:30 pm: After an exciting day filled with amazing activities, groups will gather for their afternoon snack. Similar to the morning, groups will enjoy their snack and prepare for the day’s closing ceremonies. 4:30 pm: Following the Closing Ceremony, a wide-range of Camper-In-Training Entering Kindergarten This is a fun and innovative camp, ideal for the younger camper just getting their feet wet with day camp! Campers will be introduced to many traditional camp activities while enjoying theme based weeks geared down for just this age. Chances are we have a Specialty Camp for them! Campers spend at least three hours per day, five days per week, focusing on their Specialty Camp and the rest of the day they have the option to enjoy Y day camp activities like swimming, arts and crafts, games, and songs. Campers must meet the minimum grade requirements for the week they wish to attend. All Specialty Camps require payment in full at the time of registration. Spaces are limited to 24 per camp and there must be at least 10 registered to host the week. If the minimum enrollment is not met 2 weeks prior to the start of the specialty camp, that session will be cancelled and fees will be reimbursed. Specialty Camp Rates: Member $50/week Non Member $60/week After Camp Care: $45/week $55/week Sibling Rate: 15% discount for member and non member Free early drop off as early as 6:30 AM American Girl Doll Camp (Rising 1st – 6th graders) June 15 – 19 8:30 AM – Noon Calling all American Girl Doll fans! If you love adventure, helping others and learning to be a true friend, then this camp is the place to be! Campers will explore different periods of history with their best doll friend by their side. Both dolls and participants will enjoy period crafts, cooking, games and a secret adventure. So, bring your doll and join us for a week you will never forget! Camp Hogwarts (Rising 4th – 8th graders) June 22 – 26 8:30 AM – Noon Take your place in the Wizarding World for a week where you get to experience all things Harry Potter. Young wizards will partake in all elements of the Harry Potter fantasy including: Quidditch, learning new spells, being sorted into houses, making their own wand and so much more! Dino Daze (Rising 1st – 6th graders) July 6 – 10 8:30 AM – Noon Campers will spend the week learning about amazing dinosaurs. Let out your inner paleontologist and become intrigued with fabulous fossils, new discoveries and amazing dino tales. Investigate what is new and old about dinosaurs. Myth Busters (Rising 1st – 3rd graders) July 13 – 17 8:30 AM – Noon Become a myth buster as we demystify common legends. Campers will satisfy their curiosity and expand their understanding of the world around them as they spend the week bursting favorite myths like diet coke and mentos, swimming in syrup, will your tongue freeze to a pole and much more. It will be a week of exciting experiments! Fish Camp (Rising 4th – 8th graders) July 13 – 17 8:30 AM – Noon Campers can earn their passport to fishing as they work through 6 learning stations: fish habitats & handling, fishing knots and rigging, casting station, smart boating/safe boating, ready, set, boat and local information. Test your fishing skills on the last day of camp as we travel to Mount Wood Park to fish. Lemonade Stand (Rising 1st – 6th graders) July 20 – 14 8:30 AM – Noon Spend a week with us and get a glimpse into what it takes to run a successful business. Start with company structuring by assigning jobs, responsibilities and titles. Then test your product in the kitchen with a random selected panel. Finally, take your product to the public and sell as much lemonade as you can. All proceeds benefit our youth scholarship programs. CSI Camp (Rising 4th – 8th graders) July 27 – 31 8:30 AM – Noon Do you love a good mystery? Do you want to solve crimes? Discover how science is needed to uncover the trail of evidence criminals leave behind. Using many different aspects of forensics, you will learn how to analyze a crime scene and gather evidence. Campers will solve a “real” crime and conduct an actual trial! For Camp “FLY” and Camper-In-Training programs there is a $20 registration fee per child for the summer. There are three ways to register: Drop Off HOW TO REGISTER You can drop off your completed forms at our Broad Street location: Physical address is th 1800 30 St - Parkersburg, WV Families will choose one payment option: FULL PAYMENT Pay for day camp in full on or before May 1 and receive a 10% discount! MONTHLY PAYMENTS This option requires the family to pay for all of the camper weeks In that month on or before the first of that month. The charge is made on the Wednesday, 5 days before the week of camp begins. All payments must be made before a camper can attend camp each week. With all payment options, the camp must be paid in full prior to attending. Registration is limited and based on availability so please register early. REFUNDS Refunds are only given if a camp is cancelled before the weekly payment due date or under a special circumstance. Refunds will NOT be given once the camp begins – this includes credits. To receive a credit, the cancellation request must be made 3 days prior to the start of the weekly session (Friday before 5 PM). If a camper attends less days than registered for, there will be no refund in price. To request a change in schedule, cancellation or refund/credit, please contact the Camp billing office prior to the payment due date. Making registration changes – email the change to [email protected] WHAT TO BRING EACH DAY Camp will provide most of the supplies needed, but we ask that parents send along a swim suit and towel, reusable water bottle and SPRAY ON sunscreen with their child each day. If any other supplies are needed, our staff will inform you. A light breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack is provided each day. Weekly registrations for Camp “FLY” and Camper-In-Training is the Wednesday prior to the week attending. Specialty Camp registrations must be received 2 weeks prior to the start of the session week. In order to provide the most assistance for the largest number of people, we request that you first determine whether you are eligible for child care assistance through CHOICES state funded child care assistance. Once approved, send us a copy of your Notice of Approval and your YMCA Child Care registration form. Contact the CHOICES office early as you must be approved before we can register your child. If it has been determined that you are ineligible for assistance through CHOICES, please ask for a letter of declination stating the reason why you were denied and we will gladly review your eligibility for assistance through the YMCA Scholarship Program.
