Weekly Week of July 18, 2005 HTA 2005 ART AUCTION CATALOG NOW ONLINE AT WWW.HARNESSTRACKS.COM With 200 oils, watercolors, European bronzes, woodcarvings and other treasures catalogued, HTA’s 2005 art auction is ready for viewing. The auction does not take place until Saturday, Oct. 1, but thanks to the computer wizardry of Jess Carner, with able assistance from Cindy Knox, the catalogue is up for 10 weeks of viewing. Currier & Ives. A Brush for the Lead. New York Flyers on the Snow. Large folio, 19.8 x 29.8, 1867. This year’s auction is divided into four sections. The first is original harness racing art, numbers 1 thru 85, which will be sold starting at 8:30 a.m. This section includes the largest collection of harness art ever offered by the Polish cavalry officerturned-artist, Zenon Aniszewski, HTA’s most popular and successful artist. Included in this section is an original early work by George Ford Morris, a beautiful painting of the trotter Baroness done by Morris in 1906. Section II consists of a superb collection of Currier & Ives trotting prints, numbers 86 thru 124, selling Zenon Aniszewski. Perfect Timing. Watercolor, 15 x 22.75. - more - at 10:30, and including such exceptional prints as Central Park in Winter, Trustee, Stars of the Trotting Track, Trotting Cracks on the Snow, A Brush for the Lead: New York Flyers on the Snow, and Ready for the Trot. Also being offered, in mint condition, is Salvador Dali’s American Trotting Horses #1 and American Trotting Horses #2, hand signed by the world renowned surrealist artist. Zenon Aniszewski, Roma. Oil, 35 x 58.5. A rarely seen Currier, lithographed from a painting by the English master J. F. Herring Sr., also is in the auction, along with five Currier & Ives comics and an original pen and ink drawing by Robert Dickey. Section III, going under the hammer at 11:30 a.m., includes truly exceptional equine bronzes by renowned European masters. Isidore Jules Bonheur, Pierre Jules Mene, Pierre Lenordez and Arthur Waagen are represented in the collection. Starting at noon, HTA offers 70 works catalogued as The Glory of the Horse, including paintings of thoroughbreds, western horses, Indian ponies, carriage horses, broncos, and show horses, and Waagen, Boy Leading A Spirited Racehorse. some beautiful prints as well. Work by Arthur Bronze, 12 x 9.5 x 5. Zenon Aniszewski, Helen Hayes, Svetlana Gadjieva, Henry Stull, Alfred Edgerton Cooper, Richard Stone Reeves, George Ford Morris, Santos Barbosa, Mostafa Keyhani, Sherry Blanchard Stuart, Alyson Champ, David Pavlak, Joan MacIntyre and other well known equine artists are featured. All net proceeds of the show, as always, go to the HTA College Scholarship Fund, a 501 (c) (3) charity. HTA tracks are invited to participate. ###
