About Infusion Concepts
About us
Infusion Concepts is a family-run company founded by a
veterinary surgeon determined to bring the best range of
products to the veterinary market.
Launched at BSAVA Congress 2003 with just 20 products,
our range has steadily grown and we now have nearly
700 products in our range. We continue to build on our
founding principals of:

Our mission, as well as supplying quality products, is to
help you, our customer, to solve the problems we all
encounter every day in busy clinical practice. We have
found the best solution is to listen to and understand your
problem or situation, then discuss the best product(s)
and technique to sort that problem out.
We offer full back-up and advice on all our products and
their applications. For practices wanting to get the most

When developing a new product, we focus on the important
points of making the product do the job it was intended
for, then we look at ways to make the product as costeffectively as possible.
Large animal product range
We have a good selection of products to suit large animal
use. These include infusion lines, extensions, transfer
sets and catheters (peripheral, jugular and foley). We
are currently developing an exciting new range of equine
spiral sets - please ask us for further details.

Bespoke products
We already design and supply a number of bespoke
products to our customers. These include giving sets,
extension lines, syringe labels and jugular catheters. .
Custom-made products meet your exact requirements,
and are also economical as you get exactly what you need
in a single product. We would be happy to discuss any
custom product requirements with you.
We offer a comprehensive and efficient repair and servicing
facility for the range of infusion devices we sell. We are
pleased to advise that we are CMEs preferred UK agent
for servicing, repairs and warranty repair work on their
Niki and VetPro infusion pumps.

Description
Top quality one-piece sets designed for improved accuracy both
on and off your infusion pump. All sets are a generous length and
feature low injection priming volume.
The combination of chamber drop size and set length means these
sets will suit most kennels & patient sizes.

Features and Design
l Two injection ports for easy I/V access both outside kennel and
close to patient for low priming volume
l C-clamp & roller valve for optimal gravity control
l Option of fixed or fully mobile luer lock collar allows a choice of
compact luer slip attachment or fixed luer lock for easy disconnection

Optima set range
Our Optima range of sets offer the ideal choice for routine infusion
therapy whether by gravity or on an infusion pump. Chambers are
vented and filtered. These sets feature a proximal T port injection
site with finger guard for safer I/V access. The mobile luer locking
collar allows compact luer-slip attachment if preferred.

Description
The ModuFlo range offers the most versatile infusion lines available
and is supplied with a choice of FOUR configurations. The ModuFlo
design allows you to alter or adapt the set in any way you need,
even after starting the infusion.
All sets feature their own kink-proof end extension (or T-connector)
and tubing optimised for accuracy and performance on a number
of infusion pumps.

End Extensions
Description
We offer a wide range of end extensions to allow quick and easy
disconnection from the giving set without touching the catheter.
All extensions can be secured above the catheter site, reducing
the risk of catheter movement and making patient mobility much
easier to manage.
Features and Design
In designing each end extension, we strive to achieve a number of
criteria to make them ideal for a specific function and great to use as
a general end extension. The aspects we look at in great detail include:
l Low or ultra-low injection priming volume
l Low connection profile
l Prevention of kinking
l Secure attachment
l Simple, safe and aseptic I/V access
l Improving patient compliance
l Ease of fitting valves and other connectors
Please Note:
When disconnecting set from end extension both male and female luer connections should be capped to maintain sterility and prevent air ingress.
Our closed caps are ideal for male luers and infrequent capping of female luers. For frequent disconnection, our needle-free valves are the easiest and
safest way of doing this.

EQUINE end extensions
Description
EESFNV15
Developed in collaboration with colleagues at the RVC Equine
hospital, these extensions offer improved patient safety and
ease of use over standard extensions often used in equine
practice. Both are pre-moulded to a U-shape for easier
placement and include an integral c-clamp for additional safety.

T-connector extensions
Description
We offer a dynamic range of ultra-low priming volume, light-weight
T-connector extensions to suit most companion animals. They
feature an integral slide clamp for line closure, a choice of connection
profiles, and port membrane materials.
Our original T-connector extension (EETC2010) used a 10 cm
extension length with a 2.0 mm o/d tubing and a green or blue
slide clamp. The new versions all use a 9 cm long extension with
the more resilient 2.5 m o/d tubing size with a red slide clamp.

Kennel door mounting clips for infusion pumps
Description
We offer a simple but robust clip mounting system to attach both Niki and
VetPro pumps to kennel doors. The kits consist of two carabiner clips together
with split rings and eyelets to secure these to the pumps. The second
carabiner is used to clip fluid bags to the kennel door. The kits are supplied
with the following items:

The split ring is attached to the eyelet; simply attach the eyelet into the hole at the

Description
We are proud to be the exclusive UK veterinary distributors of the
Equashield range of closed system transfer devices (CSTDs).
Introducing the newest generation Closed System Transfer Device
(CSTD) range for safe and effective handling of cytotoxic and other
hazardous chemotherapeutics without the need for specialist
ventilation or containment facilities. The Equashield range allows
safe handling, mixing and administration of drugs via vials, spikes,
fluid bags and directly into standard or needle-free luer locks.
Design & Features
The central device to the range is the unique syringe unit which
features a totally sealed encasement and uses a double needle
system that allows both pressure equalisation when drawing drugs
up and a totally closed system when injecting drugs so there is no
risk of vapour escape. Vapours are simply transfered between vial
and back of the sealed syringe maintaing a closed environment.
Using Equashield devices removes the need for use of a fume
cupboard to ensure no drug or vapour contact; you simply wear
protective clothing as normal.

Attachment to all devices other than EQLL-1 requires a simple Red-toRed alignment and then a firm push fit to engage. Disconnection is
a simple pull-away action.
Connection of EQSU_ and EQFC-1 to the EQLL-1 device on your extensions
results in a click lock attachemnet for security. To disengage, simply
press & hold the locking tab and then pull the EQSU or EQLL device to
disengage as usual.

Description
We have a comprehensive range of spikes and caps to improve
sterility and clinical practice when broaching a container on multiple
occassions, and are ideal for non-hazardous drugs. When you
select our needle-free options, this is improved further as our
valves are fully swabable and do not need capping.

membrane size. The vent is normally closed, and it can remain

A big Thank You.... for your understanding
On Boxing Day 2015, our beautiful Calder and Ryburn valleys were hit by severe flooding for
the second time that month; the flooding was the worst seen for many decades. Many
thousands of homes and businesses were affected, and our warehousing facility hit very hard..
The flood water that tore through our warehouse facility was nearly six feet deep; the force
of the water demolished a complete section of wall and destroyed two bridges that were
attached to it.
The scenes that greeted us the following morning after waters had receded were those of
devastation. We had suffered severe stock loss and significant structural damage to our
warehousing operation.
The clear-up operation began immediately. Our team worked tirelessly in cold, dim and wet
conditions. We were extremely fortunate to have acquired our own premises in late 2015,
which was underway with significant refurbishment at the time of flooding. We had been able
to move a fair proportion of our stock safely to the new premises ahead of the flood warnings
but, unfortunately, much stock could not be moved in time.
We worked with no mains power for over a month, operating on emergency generator after
the New Year.
These were extremely difficult working conditions for our staff as all the admin work carried
on at the original office, but the warehousing had to be done from the new location.
.
It took nearly five full weeks to complete and record the stock figures, rearange the stock in
the new premises and clear up the warehouse areas. During this frustrating period we were
not able to pick or despatch any orders. Once stock-take was complete the orders started
to be picked and despatched.
.
After the stock figures were finalised, we were also then able to start the painful process of
ordering replacement stock. We lost a lot of stock, with a large number of ranges being a
total loss. Most of our products are custom-made for us, with resultant lead times of up to
five months.
Not only do we have a fantastic team working for the company, we also work with a fantastic
team of suppliers. As soon as we were able to contact them, the situation was explained and
all pending orders brought forward as priority.
Once we were able to place orders for replacement stock, these were also prioritised for us
with the result that lead times were halved, meaning that we were rapidly getting partial
supply of many ranges within weeks rather than months. There were some items that still
took a while to fit into production schedules and left us without stock for a couple of months.
As of BSAVA Congress 2016 we had shelf stock of virtually all stock lines and were able to fulfil
orders as normal. There were still significant operational constraints as we continued to work
between two different sites and we had a massive back-log of re-packing to do.

Although the company owes a massive debt of gratitude to its staff for putting in such
efforts in the most appalling conditions, and to our suppliers for going the extra mile for
us in our hour of need, it is to you, our customers,
that we owe the most.

There are a lot of clinics that rarely need to contact us,
as things normally run so smoothly, so may not have been
aware of our predicament, with the result of needing to
shop elsewhere. We hope that you may give us a chance
to gain your support and custom again.

The Emodren grenade kit helps you to manage high volume thoracic effusions under constant active suction. In
addition we have designed an extension to allow a way to quickly empty the grenade without disconnecting from

Unique Features of our Needle-Free Valves
Our needle-free valves are the ideal type to use with Seldinger kits.
They allow a totally closed insertion technique (see section below)
and this is why we supply two valves with each kit. For more information
on our needle-free valves please see page 24 for details.
l The internal valve stem is shaped the same as the hub on the
Seldinger introducer needle
l This shape allows smooth passage of the guide wire through
the male end and out of the female luer valve surface
l One valve is supplied to allow for a totally closed placement

Our Seldinger chest drain kits can be placed normally with open-ended
needle, dilator and catheter. Whilst this technique works well in patients
with a severe effusion or pneumothorax (and subsequent low negative
intra-thoracic pressure) it can adversely affect patients with only moderate
compromise.

Our kits allow you to place the drain as a closed system, preventing any
significant ingress of air into the patient. This avoids the concern of drain
placement causing short-term pneumothorax.

The Martin Pericardial Drainage Kit
Our pericardial drainage catheter kit was developed over a number
of years in association with Mike Martin of the Veterinary
Cardiorespiratory Centre. It offers a simple and safe way to
perform pericardial drainage techniques and can also be used for
short-term thoracic procedures.
The kits have been modified recently to improve access in very
large breeds by increasing the guide wire length from 60 to 80
cm. We believe it offers significant benefits in ease of placement

Remember: The biggest limitation in aspiration rate and risk of blockage is the size of the luer

Select your tube based on size required for your patient
Place the tube, secure and dress surgical site as normal
Cut tube to your preferred length for easy access etc
Clean the cut tubing with spirit/alcohol and leave to dry
Apply 2-4 drop of cyanoacrylate glue (super glue or skin adhesive) to outer surface of cut end of tubing
Attach the funnel connector to the tubing with a firm push and twist action. Ensure luer cap is open
Leave cap open until patient is recovering and the glue has completely dried
When patient has fully recovered from anaesthesia you can flush & prime the tube as normal

A bit about the company
Who we are
You speak to us often enough by phone, so its time to put a name to the voice,
as well as giving you a snippet of detail about our team! The important thing to
remember when calling us is that were all on the same side and our staff bite! .

Rachel Our newest team member joined us in November 2015 and looks
after our accounts. Itll be her chasing late payment of those invoices! She
is a keen triathlete and qualified for Team GB at the European championships
in Lisbon in May 2016.
Ben Our experienced service engineer joined us in February 2012 and is
based just north of York in a modern workshop facility. Ben looks after all
repair work for us, both with infusion pumps and general equipment. His actual
name is John Bennett, but were just so used to calling him plain Ben. Rumour
has it that hes been called far worse than that, but we cant print details!
Lisa Lisa joined us in January 2015 and took to a varied work load easily.
She mainly deals with clinic orders, repacking small pack items and managing
stock.
Martin No one seems to remember when our operations manager joined
us, but it was probably shortly after the last ice age thawed! Martin takes care
of logistics, purchasing and generally making the office run smoothly. Hes a
bit of a whizz on spreadsheets and certainly files his spreadsheet figures far
more tidily than the paperwork on his desk!
Jacqui
Jacqui has been with the company since 2009, when she primarily
looked after the warehousing side of the business. Her roles include stock
management, looking after distributors orders and repacking our bulk pack
ranges and managing stock. She is never too far away from our company
mascot, Kira, the long-haired GSD whom you may have seen vogue-posing
at some of the exhibitions we attend.

Mark
No one seems to know what his role is, especially Mark! He looks
after product design and testing, technical support and customer services,
along with supporting Martin in purchasing. He enjoys visiting clinics to discuss
and demonstrate our product range as well as providing clinical training.

Where we are
Our headquarters are based in Sowerby Bridge, just 3 miles west of Halifax, right
in the heart of the Pennines, almost mid-way between Manchester and Leeds. Our
nearest motorway (M62) access boasts the highest elevation of all motorways in
the UK.
About our new premises
Our warehousing facility had been based in an old woollen mill since shortly after
starting the company. This building is situated right on the banks (a little too
closely - see page 41!) of the river Calder. Over the years, as the company has
expanded, we out-grew the storage capacity available to us.
Our new premises are a series of three industrial units, providing us with 10,000
sq ft of storage, manufacturing and office space. The three separate units will be
integrated to allow smooth and uninterrupted movement throughout the building.
The building has been used for many purposes over its century-long existence but
was originally built as a large commercial laundry. Its construction and location
means significant refurbishment had to be done to make it fit for purpose.
It was a major undertaking, but was exciting to see the emergence of a clean, dry
storage facility, new office and storage facilities within the original framework of
the building.
Oh, yes... about our website...
You may have noticed the Under construction on our website for a while now... it still
is! Well have the new site as soon as weve been able to put the main content on it.
