MILLIE HUGHES-­FULFORD SAH is proud to welcome Dr. Millie Hughes-­Fulford the ONLY American Astronaut living in Hawaii. Dr. Hughes-­‐Fulford was the 4irst woman who ventured into space as a working scientist on the space shuttle Columbia in 1991 aboard STS-­‐40 Spacelab. Her biomedical studies have earned multiple NASA awards for discoveries on T-­‐cell activation in space, and how osteoporosis occurs in astronauts during space4light. Her experiments 4lew over 3.2 million miles in 146 orbits and completed over 18 experiments, bringing back more medical data than any previous NASA 9light! Dr. Hughes-­‐Fulford continues her research at NASA, and is a Professor at the University of California Medical Center at San Francisco. A distinguished speaker in demand, Dr. Hughes-­‐Fulford educates and inspires audiences around the world.
