is rich in
celebrating
the Arts! We
have a diverse
collection of plays,
music and art to fill
your spirit.
In the bountiful
array of children’s
literature, no author
is better known and
respected than the
Greek storyteller,
Aesop. Using animals
as characters, he
served up life lessons
and morals in a tasty,
digestible cupcake of a story. In Madcap’s
production, Aesop recalls three of our
best-loved stories re-told by a cast of
puppets, and you! Stories include: The Boy
Who Cried Wolf, The Lion and the Mouse
and The Hare and the Tortoise.
PRESENTED BY DEAR DOT NETTIE MAE THEATRE
COMPANY
Written and Directed by R. Miranda Burke.
What happens when a woman is fed up? How
do men truly handle being broken-hearted? And,
truly, are there second chances with love? In
this highly relatable tale, we see what happens
when we lose ourselves in love. Take a trip with
the Santiago
sisters,
Marissa and
Mariah, to
explore what
happens
when love
changes.

THE RAINMAKER
By N. Richard Nash
At the time of a paralyzing drought in the West we discover
a girl whose father and two brothers are worried as much
about her potential future as an old maid as they are about
their dying cattle. The brothers try every possible scheme to
marry her off, but without success. Nor is there any sign of
relief from the dry heat, when suddenly from out of nowhere
appears a sweet-talking man with quite the sales pitch,
claiming to be a “rainmaker.”
Directed by James C. Davis
OVER THE RIVER AND
THROUGH THE WOODS
By Joe DiPietro
Nick is a single, Italian-American guy from New Jersey. His parents
retired and moved to Florida. That doesn’t mean his family isn’t
still in Jersey. In fact, he sees both sets of his grandparents every
Sunday for dinner. This is routine until he has to tell them that he’s
been offered a dream job. The job he’s been waiting for—marketing executive—would take him away from his beloved, but annoying, grandparents. He tells them. The news doesn’t sit well.

THE BOYS NEXT DOOR
By Tom Griffen
The place is a communal residence in a New England city where
four mentally handicapped men live under the supervision of
an earnest, but increasingly “burned out,” young social worker
named Jack. Norman works in a doughnut shop and is unable
to resist the lure of the sweet pastries; Lucien P. Smith has the
mind of a five-year-old but imagines that he is able to be more;
Arnold, the ringleader of the group, is a hyperactive, compulsive
chatterer; while Barry, a brilliant schizophrenic who is devastated
by the unfeeling rejection of his brutal father, fantasizes that he
is a golf pro.

A Musical Comedy
Book by Michael Stewart
Music by Charles Strouse
Lyrics by Lee Adams
Originally Produced by Edward Padula
Adaptation and support materials for
the Young Performers’ Edition Developed
by iTheatrics under the supervision of
Timothy Allen McDonald
A one-hour adaptation of one of the most
captivating musical shows of our time. It tells the
story of a rock and roll singer, Conrad Birdie, an Elvis
Presley type, who is about to be inducted into the
army. Albert Peterson, his agent, and Albert’s faithful
secretary, Rose, concoct one final national publicity
plan before Conrad’s induction. Conrad will bid a
typical American teen-age girl goodbye with an allAmerican kiss. Bye Bye Birdie is a satire done with
the fondest affection. It is the tops in imagination
and good old-fashioned fun.

USA for 21 consecutive years and would like you to help strengthen our urban forest by

Living Legacy Tree Program at Creekside Park
Creekside Park is located at 5225 Banker Drive
The City of Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department and the Environmental Commission is
privileged to provide a unique opportunity to our residents who would like to plant a tree in honor of a family member, a
special loved one, or for themselves. There are over 45 different species of trees to choose from and several different levels
to pick from depending on what type of tree you select.
A 30” x 24” cast bronze plaque is installed in a centralized area located by the benches in the middle of the grove at Creekside
Park. The individual’s name will be added to the large plaque for recognition.

Pickleball
The Parks Department has joined the ranks of communities who are
latching onto one of the hottest sports crazes. Pickleball is a sport in which
two, three, or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite
materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a whiffle ball, over a
net. The sport shares features of other racquet sports, the dimensions and
layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules similar
to tennis. Pickleball was invented in the mid 1960’s as a
children’s backyard pastime but quickly became popular
among adults as a fun game for players of all levels. The
tennis courts at Harbin Park, Waterworks Park and Gilbert
Farms Park are striped for Pickleball.
