Sometimes hard to believe considering this man is not yet 40. DAVID SANBORN is one of the most distinctive saxophonists in contemporary music since the late 70s, having released more than 24 albums, won six Grammy Awards, and has had eight Gold albums and one Platinum album. From playing with the likes of Milt Jackson, Roy Haynes, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and Pat Metheny; to playing with and/or arranging for the likes of Isaac Hayes, Chaka Khan, Lalah Hathaway, Sting and the legendary James Brown—what has always been unique about McBride is his versatility. In addition to his work in the neo-soul arena with The Roots, D’Angelo, Queen Latifah and others, the Philadelphia native has also led his own ensembles: The Christian McBride Band, A Christian McBride Situation, his most recent group, Inside Straight and with his acclaimed Trio featuring drummer Jerome Jennings and pianist Christian Sands. The career of DAVID SANBORN has threaded him through some killer groups and sharing the stage with equally amazing artists. He joined the Butterfield Blues Band and was at Woodstock with them. Following that, Dave toured with Stevie Wonder and recorded for Wonder’s Talking Book album, played with The Rolling Stones, and toured with David Bowie with whom he recorded the famous solo heard on “Young Americans”. At the same time, Dave was touring and recording with the great Gil Evans, dividing his time between the two. After Dave started his solo career he collaborated with such artists as Paul Simon and James Taylor. In his over three-and-half decade career, which includes Grammy Awards, chart-topping albums and the hit single, “Seduction”, Dave has always pushed the boundaries, and he continues to do so today.
