Maintaining a classic look, Harney & Sons strives to
develop new and exciting blends of tea each year. We are
a vertically integrated company and therefore have total control
over the quality of our teas. We source, blend, and package our
teas at our Millerton, NY location. Mike Harney travels each year
to source tea from only the finest tea gardens. Meanwhile, Paul Harney
works hard at keeping us updated with all of the new technology
for the industry. We have hot and iced teas, loose and bagged teas, as
well as ready to drink organic iced teas and juices.

Harney & Sons Tea
T Company sells fine teas at a price that makes tea an everyday luxury. Our tea is sipped ‘round
the world in homes, hotels, restaurants, cafes and on cruise ships. The process of shipping tea from the world’s
tea gardens to Harney & Sons’ production facility for blending, bagging and packing, then on to the world’s
teacups, impacts our increasingly fragile environment. What could we do to give back to the environment that
grows the tea of the world?
In 2006, Michael and Paul Harney decided membership in 1% For The Planet would provide Harney & Sons
with the opportunity to drive positive environmental change in our geographical region. Our production
n ffacility
is located in Upstate New York surrounded by the beautiful mountains that make up the Berkshire Range. We
are minutes from the Appalachian Trail. Our facility is located between the Hudson River to our west and the
Housatonic River to our east. The Housatonic offers some of this country’s finest fly-fishing. Wildlife abounds
in Upstate New York and the neighboring states of Massachusetts and Connecticut. The American Bald Eagle
has made this Tri-State area its home once again. Our national bird can be observed in flight over the Hudson
and Housatonic sourcing dinner or just sunning on a tree branch overlooking the riverbank.
Joining 1% FTP meant we could directly donate one percent of our total sales to the environmental organizations
of our choice. We also pay annual membership dues to 1% FTP to help this exemplary organization defray its

APPALACHIAN TRAIL CONSERVANCY
T
he Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to the preservation and management of Appalachian Trail (A.T.). The A.T. is about 2,180
miles in length ranging from Maine to Georgia, making it one of the longest, continuous marked footpaths in the world. The ATC’s mission is to preserve
and manage the Appalachian Trail – ensuring that its vast natural beauty and priceless cultural heritage can be shared and enjoyed today, tomorrow, and
for centuries to come. Harney & Sons is proud to support the efforts of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. The A.T. passes through Salisbury,
Connecticut, the hometown of the Harney family and many of our employees as well. We're lucky to have such a treasure right in our backyard
(for some of us, quite literally!) Michael fondly recalls many summers spent hiking the A.T. through The Presidentials in New Hampshire on
the weekends, as part of summer training for Cross Country Ski Racing. Had he been even more ambitious, he could have hiked straight
back to Salisbury, CT on the trail.
