It all started 40 years ago,
when my father wanted to
listen to his favourite jazz music
but couldn’t find a mount to
support his speakers where he
wanted them. That desire to
find a better way to do things
is still driving us. We are always
looking for ways to make
watching television, listening
to music or relaxing more
enjoyable.
Recently our journey brought us
to a whole new level. It started when
we challenged our young designers
to come up with a whole new wall
mount concept for premium TVs.
They found inspiration in our rich
design and engineering heritage.
And what they came up with
delighted everyone - Vogel’s new
DesignMount. It is a turning point
for wall mount design that brings
a fresh new look to the market.
I hope that the DesignMount
will appeal to design lovers who
appreciate the finer things in life,
and want to complement their
cutting-edge TV with distinctive,
finely crafted accessories. The
DesignMount is pure design
from back to front.

High tech
meets
craftmanship
In today’s mass produced world, quality is more
important than ever. We want products in our home
that will enrich our lives. Things that are beautiful to
look at and enjoyable to use.
When our designers began working
on the DesignMount, they were
inspired by some of the great
furniture designers. They used
rounded elements, clean lines
and authentic materials to create
timeless designs. This same careful
craftsmanship is found in Vogel’s
new DesignMount.
Interior design is also heavily
influencing manufacturers of
consumer electronics. More
attention is being paid to creating
TVs and equipment that are
technologically excellent and
have a strong design language to
complement interiors which have
been thoughtfully decorated.

Timeless products,
you just need to keep
it honest and simple
Vogel’s interviewed Leolux, a renowned Dutch furniture company whose name is synonymous with
distinctive design. High in quality, comfort and durability. Like Vogel’s, Leolux creates with passion, combining
traditional craftsmanship with the latest technology. We spoke with Hans Filippini, Marketing Manager
Leolux and Jane Worthington, an established European designer who is also a Leolux design consultant.
Jane, you have had a successful
career in product and interior
design. Looking back at your
designs over the years, which
product do you feel was your
most iconic design?
’ My most iconic design was a design
that was never even produced; it was
even before my Leolux time. In 1992
I was invited to go to Milan to work with
Alessandro Mendini in his studio on a
project to determine the future of the
television. For them I designed the first
ever wall-mounted back lit television.
It was great to work on a project with
that kind of creative freedom.
How do you see consumer
electronics being integrated with
interior design in the future? What
trends do you foresee in this area?
I’m very against “integration’’ of
technology in products. You know
why? Technological advances move
so fast that integrating technology
in a long term sustainable product
reduces the life of the “main’’ product.
To give an example, screens in the

back of the headrests for the kids
to watch DVDs in cars. Already an
obsolete product!
Naturally, electronics are needed in
the home and in the future they will
offer the most extensive possibilities.
The house will have its own memory
(i cloud) as will the person who lives
in it and I don’t need to tell you the
possibilities of this.
Our living environment will become
a superior intelligence and consumer
electronics will no longer be about
a home entertainment system.
It will be about a world access
system where you bring outside
experiences into your own house!
At Vogel’s developing quality
products is in our DNA. It is also one
of our most important assets. Hans,
how important is quality to Leolux?
Products that don’t live up to our
quality standards simply do not exist in
our collection. The quality of a design
may be subject to personal taste, but
this does not apply to the specifications
of the product itself. Our furniture has
to live up to the highest standards,
especially when it comes to comfort
and construction. The same goes for the
quality of the materials used. The leather
and fabrics have to be top notch. Leolux
products and our manufacturing
process must all be sustainable.That
is what people may and do expect
when they buy Leolux furniture.
With our new DesignMount
our designers tried to develop
a timeless product within the
category. How important is it for
Leolux that a design is timeless?
And how do you achieve this?
Leolux’s best products are timeless,
and it’s actually not that difficult
to do if you look at the DNA of a
timeless product. You just need
to keep it honest and simple.
Vogel’s tried to develop an
iconic product. Leolux has been
developing furniture for almost
80 years. Is there a specific
signature for Leolux furniture or
products that have an iconic design?
Leolux has a very large collection of
furniture and works with an army of
freelance designers. For some, it
may seem as if the collection lacks
consistency or coherence. But that
is absolutely not the case. The
common factor is the craftsmanship
Leolux puts into its design. The care
that surrounds the products.
Absolutely A level. Furthermore,
the presentation of our products:
colorful, playful, and even some
humor . The high comfort factor of
Leolux furniture is also immediately
recognizable. Some of our designs
are what I would call iconic. “Pallone”,
the balloon chair, humorous, playful.
“Parabolica” and “Arabella” are really
daring in their design, but again not
all too serious. And then there is
“Kikko”, a classic, now available in an
art-edition, created by Dutch artist
Jean-Paul Marsman.
To what extent is ease of use
important for Leolux furniture design?
Leolux puts great effort in this aspect.
Ease of use in our case equals
comfort. That is one of the key subjects
when developing Leolux furniture:
what’s the function of this design and
how can we translate that into the
best possible seating. We also create
extra options, for example, the choice
for softer cushions, feet at different
heights or adjustable backrests,
headrests or seats. Everything to
create the best comfort possible.
Jane, what will your living room
look like in 2018?
Wow, difficult. Rented furniture, Jane
laughs. No, in 2018 I don’t expect any
big changes, the economic crisis has
thrown the anchor out on any big
change. I hope though in 2028 that it
will be an inspirational uplifting place
that is a mix of tradition, culture,
innovation, world influences and smart
technology. I hope it’s dynamic and
that it’s a place that inspires me, but
most importantly I hope it’s a place
that feels welcoming and happy and
full of love for all those who visit me. In
the end, all the ‘’things’’ in my house
are just ‘’things’’. It’s the feelings we
create for ourselves and others around
us with these things that counts.

completely new, I knew I wanted
to make a signature product for
Vogel’s. Something you would look
at and think “Wow”.
Electronics are
playing a bigger
role in our lives and
our interior design
I’ve always wanted to design
products that would last forever.
That’s why I love designing wall
mounts. Just like other classics,
Vogel’s DesignMount is designed to
endure. It has a clean bold look
with graceful lines that creates a
unique setting for a TV. People will
treasure this product. And that
makes me feel really proud.

When we created
this mount, we put
a great bit of Vogel’s
legacy in it. We included
our Screen Protection
System, which we invented
a few years ago. It protects
your TV from bumping into
the wall. The amazing thing
about this mount is how lightly
it moves. Just a tiny push from
your finger can turn it. We put
a lot of effort into making that
work absolutely flawlessly.
We call it Smart Movement.
We took all the best things from
our other successful products and
combined this into one new concept
that looks and feels more luxurious
than anything else out there.

What does the perfect
entertainment system look like?
Beautiful entertainment starts with
Vogel’s DesignMount and continues
with Vogel’s Cable Column, AV Multi
Support or Universal Sound Bar
Mount. This entire system goes
together to create a unique focal
point on the wall that looks great
and works fantastic.
We designed it so it seems like your
TV floats in the air with no cables in
sight. They are neatly concealed
and connected to a media player
or speaker system at any height
needed. The sturdy, tempered black
glass of the AV Multi Support offers
room for Blu-ray players, a gaming
console or other equipment. You
can stack several supports on the
Column to create the perfect
media centre for your needs.
They are the same width as the
TV, because we felt that this would
provide a balanced form when
combined with the TV.
A Sound Bar extension can be
neatly added to enhance your
listening experience.

One beautiful
system
The DesignMount (NEXT 7345) folds
effortlessly against the wall, leaving a
minimal amount of space between
the mount and the wall. Its robust
frame is designed to support TVs
ranging from 40” to 65” (102 -165
cm), weighing up to 30 kg.
The 100 cm long Cable Column
(NEXT 7840) repeats the brushed
aluminium finish of the DesignMount.
It neatly conceals up to 10 cables
and can be mounted at the ideal
viewing height for the TV.
The advantage of Vogel’s AV Multi
Support (NEXT 7825) is its broad
shelves. These give you a sturdy piece
of furniture to hold your valuable
equipment. Perfect for a Blu-ray
player, gaming equipment and
console, centre speaker, etc. It looks
classy with its smoked black glass.
You can use more than one support
to stack up all your equipment.
We also created a Sound Bar solution
for the DesignMount, which will
complement the system. A support
can be mounted on the cable
column (SOUND 3400) or we offer
a solution which can be added to
the mount itself, so the sound can
be directed to wherever you want in
your room (SOUND 3450).
