Scroll down under Departments to Recreation and you will see the Recreation Guide. Click on Summer 2016 to begin registration. PROGRAM REFUND POLICY Register for an account: If you have not yet registered for an account in previous seasons, click the “Register” button beneath the “Member Sign In” section on the right side of the screen. After filling out the registration form, you can continue to register for classes as listed below. If you have an account with the registration system, please log in and continue. Volunteer coaches will be refunded one (1) child’s registration fee in the sport in which he/she coached. Refunds will be given at the end of the season. Finding Activities: On the home page, you will see most activities listed beneath each category head, such as Youth Team Sports, Individual Sports, Classes, etc.. If not all of the activities are listed, click “More” at the bottom of each category. Click on the activity that you are interested in. After navigating through pages to find the specific age category and time you would like to register for, a screen will show you the class dates, time, and availability. A $5 fee will be assessed. For classes taught by instructors, refund requests received within the five (5) days before the start of the class will NOT receive a refund. If the Recreation Department cancels or reschedules an activity (i.e. low class registration or facility conflicts), a full refund will be granted. Registering: If you want to register for a class, click on the “Register” button on the bottom right hand corner of the Class Details screen. After clicking Register on the bottom of this page, you will see your shopping cart. You can search for and add more activities to your cart, or you can choose to checkout using any of these major credit cards. If you are unable to pay by credit, you can come in to City Hall with check or cash to register for activities. www.rexburgraces.com days before the start date). SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Need-based scholarships are available for Rexburg Residents. Applications can be filled out at City Hall. Please contact the Recreation Department for details. NON-RESIDENT FEE The Rexburg Parks and Recreation Department is funded by city tax dollars. A $5 fee is assessed to non-resident participants to offset the cost to city tax payers. REGISTRATION POLICY PHOTOS & VIDEO 1.Parent or guardian must register all participants under the age of 18. 2. All fees must be paid at time of registration. 3.Registration is only available online at www.rexburg.org. (There is a computer at City Hall available for those who do not have access to the Internet.) The Recreation Department reserves the right to take photos and videos of individuals participating in team sports and programs. LATE REGISTRATION A $5 fee will be assessed for all late registrations. Late registration for non-team activities will be vary by activity start date (but no more than 7 The department may use the photos in upcoming recreation guides or promotional advertising without paying compensation to any individual or entity for the likeness, image, name, and/or signature of any adult or their child in photographic or other works appearing in any and all media (presently known). Music Lessons Group Guitar Lessons (Ages 11-Adult) Group Violin Lessons (Ages 11-Adult) Tiny Tunes (Ages 3-4) Students with little or no prior knowledge of the guitar will benefit the most from the program. Attention is focused on proper hand position, tablature reading, natural first position chords, and strum patterns. Popular songs are incorporated into the lessons. Class size is limited and peer/mentor playing is supported and encouraged. Students will need to purchase a method book and supply their own instrument. Private lessons available as well, please call 359-1900 for information. Two fall sessions will be offered. Students with little or no prior knowledge of the violin will benefit the most from the program but all students and levels will be helped. Tiny Tunes is a unique and fun class for toddlers. We sing, dance, use our imaginations, play, use instruments and learn. Our tiny tunes class is so much fun!! Join us for 10 weeks of fun & learning. Learn how to tie local effective fly patterns for use in streams, lakes ponds, and rivers. Learn about the trout food these flies imitate. Fly tying is a great hand to eye co-ordination activity and can become a lifetime hobby. (All materials are covered in fee) (Class needs 5 people minimum, max is 20 Recognize birds by sight and sound. Identify them by body size, beak size, and feathers. Learn their natural history. Learn the right way to use binoculars, and how to use a field guide. A bird identification book is included in the price of the class. (Min. of 8 students for the class to be held) Come climb at Regional Rock Walls, Rexburg’s premier indoor rock climbing gym. Children will learn knots, climbing safety, how to belay, and the basics of rock climbing. In addition to developing climbing technique, your child will improve coordination and build self-confidence. The class will move at the pace of the students. While participating in this class, your child will be introduced to basic tumbling skills and other gross motor activities as well as explore motion through actions and song. This class curriculum for ages 18 months – 3 years requires the involvement of a parent helper. Does your preschooler or kindergartener have wiggle to spare? This class will use fun music, stories, games, and props to introduce ballet and jazz basics, rhythm, and artistry. Students will do circuits on floor, balance beam, bars, vault, and tumble tracks. On the last day of class, parents will be invited into the gym for a quick showcase to see what their child has been learning. Each child will receive a medal on the last day of class. Dates: September 14th – November 2nd Time: Wednesdays, 3:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. Location: Madison Gymnastics Activity Fee: $65 City Resident Fee: $60 Co-ed Tumbling (Ages: 5-12) These classes are great beginner tumbling classes. Students will learn proper tumbling technique, and basic tumbling skills working towards backward and forward tumbling. On the last day of class, students will showcase what they have learned. Each student will receive a medal on the last day of class. Come have a cardio blast party with Rosa, a native of Puerto Rico who loves to teach Latin and International dances. Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. The choreography incorporates Caribbean hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, and bachata. Learn native folklore dances of bomba and plena, and if interested feel free to bring a Caribbean dance skirt! Dates: September 3rd – December 10th Time: Saturdays, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Location: Madison Gymnastics Activity Fee: $55 City Resident Fee: $50 Start your Heritage Festival day off right by participating in the first annual Run N’ Ride Duathlon. This race consists of running and cycling portions that can be accomplished individually or in teams. It is a run then bike format with just one transition. Each participant will receive a race shirt and finisher medal. Prizes will be given away to top finishers, as well as winners of different age brackets. Kid’s race will be split between ages 4-7 and 8-12. Cost: Go online to rexburgraces.com for pricing and to register* *No day of registration except for kids division. Race packets can be picked up the day of the race.* The annual Cube Cyclocross race will take place the last weekend in October this year. Bikers will complete a series of laps on a short 1 mile loop. The course will include small natural and man-made obstacles such as hills, sharp turns, and barriers that might require racers to carry their bike for short distances. The terrain will feature paved road, dirt trails, grass, mud, and possibly snow. Everyone is encouraged to compete. There are categories for men, women, and children. Mountain bikes are welcomed on the course. All participants will receive a shirt. Prizes will be awarded as well as raffle prizes given out. Your daughter can learn the fundamentals of the sport while improving teamwork skills and self-confidence. The 2nd and 3rd grade league will stress fundamentals and player development with 3-on-3, half court format. Grades 4-7 will continue skill development by playing full court basketball. Rules will be observed in all leagues. Practice times will be provided and each participant will receive a team shirt. Volunteer coaches are needed. Games are officiated and run two 15 minute halves with substitutions made on the fly. Practice times at The Zone will be provided for teams. Create your own team and take advantage of the 15% discount ($238 per team). Pass, set, spike! Have your child join our 6 on 6 coed youth volleyball league. Teams use Volley-Lite balls and are given a practice time each week. Exact times will be determined by the numbers of participants and teams that sign up. Each participant will receive a team shirt.
