THANK YOU!
Good luck to all of our Westmore students returning to school this month! Study hard!
Westmore News & Notes
GARBAGE TORNADOS
Are you using the proper ties for your
garbage bags? We have noticed that several
residents are using small grocery bags which
are not being closed properly. When thrown
into the dumpster the garbage blows out of
the open bags, littering the property with
debris. The additional cleaning expense may
result in a higher rent increase, and we want
to be able to continue providing you free
garbage service.
RENT CHECK REMINDER
Please remember to write your entire
address on your rent check—including
building number and apartment number. At
times it is difficult to find the apartment using
only the last name in our property management accounting program and we want to
make sure that the appropriate account is
being credited.
POOL CLOSING
So long sunny days by the pool! We’ll miss
you! The pool will close for the season on
Monday, September 7 (Labor Day). Please
check the schedule on the building bulletin
boards for the abbreviated pool hours during
the last week that the pool is open.
EXTERMINATOR
The Westmore exterminator is on the
property the second Monday of every month.
He will be here on September 14, 2009.
Please call the office to schedule an appointment if you require extermination services.
CIGARETTE BUTTS
Our residents have noticed that some of
their neighbors are throwing their cigarette
butts onto the grounds before entering the
building, or from their patio/balcony. Please
dispose of all cigarette butts into an enclosed
container. Cigarette butts should never be
thrown onto the community grounds. This not
only causes an unsightly mess, but unnecessary expense for our cleaning staff to pick up
the grounds, which may result in a higher
rent increase.

Property Inspections
SEPTEMBER RENT GIVEAWAY
Management is excited to announce that the office will
begin to conduct monthly property inspections that include
your balconies/patios, front doors, building hallways, laundry rooms, storage closets, etc. During these inspections
we will look for ways to improve and enhance the property.
If you are in violation of a community policy, a notice will be
sent to your apartment. Please call the leasing office if you
have any questions or concerns about these inspections.

Laundry Clean-Up
A few of your neighbors have noticed that some of the
residents at Westmore use powder detergent. We allow the
use of powder detergent, however at times the powder
remains in the washer after your use. Please remember to
clean up the excess powder so that the machine is ready
for the next resident to use.
Parking Issue
We suggest that you allow the washer to fill at least oneinch with water, add detergent, then allow the washer to fill
another one-inch before putting your clothes into the
machine. By allowing the powder to dilute in the water
before adding your clothing, the excess powder remnants
should be limited.
Several residents back into their parking stalls and, on
occasion they have backed up extremely close to another
vehicle. Management would like to remind you to use caution
when backing into your stall and be aware of the cars
surrounding your vehicle. If there is not enough space, please
do not try to back in.
Moving Along with
Property Improvements
There are so many wonderful things
happening at Westmore and we want to
keep you updated on our progress!
Soon we will be installing a fountain in
the courtyard behind the office building.
We will also be replacing the benches,
light poles and flower arrangements in
this area.
We will continue to clean up the
creek, and before next pool season we
hope to have a pool deck addition
where we can host resident events. We
will add tables around the pool to
accommodate our sunbathers.
In the park, we added a swing set,
which we hope you have been able to
enjoy this summer! Soon you can
expect a covered picnic table at the
playground so you can enjoy some
shade while at the park.
In the office, we are finalizing the
painting in the building foyer and will
soon begin painting the foyer of every
building on the property. This will give
our foyers a fresh new look in the
months to come!
But wait—that’s not all! The parking
lot asphalt will be repaired, seal-coated,
and re-striped. We are hoping to
address the parking issues at the south
parking lot by designating at least one

Satellite Reminders
We are asking our residents for their participation
in giving our community a fresh clean look!
Please clean up your patios of any old household
belongings and unapproved items, including
sheets, towels, uncovered ashtrays, charcoal grills,
and indoor furniture. Also, we ask any residents
who currently have a satellite dish to review the
satellite dish guidelines. All dishes must be
placed within your patio or balcony area, attached
to a free standing base. For those who have a balcony, the dish may be clamped (sorry no drilling) to
the interior of the railing. If your dish is clamped on
the building, roof, gutters, window sill, or posted in
the ground they must be removed and relocated no
later than September 15, 2009. Unfortunately, FCC
Regulations and our Community Policies do not
allow the dish in any location other than your patio/
balcony area.
Finally, we require that you have an "authorized"
dish. You may have up to one dish that is no larger
than 21” in diameter. A $250 refundable deposit
and professional installation per above guidelines
is required. Also, you must have a signed Satellite
Dish Addendum, and a copy of your certificate of
insurance for personal liability coverage. If we do
not have the deposit, certificate of insurance, and
signed Satellite Dish Addendum please stop by the
office no later than September 15, 2009, to take
care of everything.
$500 Resident Referrals!
We want your friends as our neighbors—and
the best part is that if one of your friends moves
in we will give you $500! That’s a lot of cash!
All you have to do is tell your friends, family,
co-workers—whoever!—all about Westmore and
how much you like living here. When they come
into the office to apply, make sure they say your
name and that you sent them here. When the
paperwork is finalized and they move-in, we’ll cut
you a check.
Call the leasing office today for more
information on our fantastic Resident Referral
Program. (630) 629-2728

Apricot Oatmeal Bars
INGREDIENTS
12 tablespoons (1.5 sticks) unsalted
butter, cut up
2 teaspoons soft butter for greasing pan
1 cup firmly packed dried apricots
1 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS
Put the 12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks)
butter in a small saucepan and set over
medium-high heat. Stir with the wooden
spoon until the butter is melted, about 2
minutes. Using a pot holder, remove
the saucepan from the heat and set it
aside to cool.
Preheat an oven to 350-degrees F. Line
the bottom and sides of a 9-inch square
baking pan with a large piece of
aluminum foil (some foil hanging over
edges is fine). Lightly grease the foil
with the soft butter.
Using kitchen scissors, snip the apricots
into about 1/2-inch pieces.
In a bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour,
brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Stir
with a wooden spoon until well blended
and no lumps of sugar remain.
Add the snipped apricots, melted butter
and vanilla to the bowl. Stir until well
blended. The dough will be moist and
crumbly. Dump the dough into the
prepared baking pan. Press the dough
into the pan with your fingers.
Bake until the top is golden brown, 35
to 40 minutes. Using oven mitts,
remove the pan from the oven, set on a
wire cooling rack and let cool
completely.
Lift the foil and the oatmeal bars from
the pan and place on a work surface.
Peel away the foil from the sides and
bottom. Using a small sharp knife, cut
the big square into 1 1/2-by-3-inch
rectangles. Store in an airtight
container. Makes 18 bar cookies.
