Dear Club members,
I hope that this message finds everyone in good health and fired up about the conditions of our
beloved salt flats.
As everyone who has any interest at all in Land Speed Racing, either as a racer or a fan, knows
the conditions we find at Bonneville are dire at best. There were several cancelled events in
2014 and ALL scheduled events in 2015 were cancelled as well. Weather and silt runoff from
the surrounding mountains have left the surface in poor condition. In addition to the weather,
it appears that the 50 plus years of mining operations have finally resulted in the situation we
all began to fear in the late 70s/early 80s, the disappearance of a usable racing surface.
I would like to point you to an article and a video recently released that pinpoint what we face.

In addition, the club has aligned itself with two organizations that are in the fore front of the
fight to restore and improve the salt flats for future use.

Last year was an election year for board members and due to the cancellation of Speed Week
the board decided to follow precedent and continue over to 2015. Well, we know what
happened, another Speed Week cancellation and no nomination meeting for club offices. The
club will continue forward with the current board unless someone decides that they want to
discontinue service. A replacement will be appointed by the board at that time.

www.bonneville200mph.org. Christmas is coming, hint, hint. During this off-season many of
us attend various indoor events, outdoors on the West Coast, and I suggest that you wear the
club colors, talk up LSR, the club and the Save the Salt issue.
I would like to thank each and every one of the club members for their continued support of the
club and LSR. Here is hoping for progress in the fight for restoration of our beloved salt.

Board Meeting
Our annual board meeting will be held at the NHRA Museum in Pomona, California.
On January 30th at 9:00 am. All members are welcome to attend.
2015 PASSINGS
Jack Harvey entered the club in 2004 with a record of 223.097.
Joe Mabee was one of the early members joining the club in 1953 with a record of 203.10.
Otto Ryssman was one of the Original 5 charter members of the Bonneville 200 MPH Club
with a record of 222.57 in 1952.
Bill Burke was one of the original 49'rs and credited with creating the belly tank lakester.
He entered the club in 1960 with a speed of 205.949 and later set a record at 239.20
