Student Radio Cookout FRIDAY, AUGUST 23 Eucharistic Adoration Intramural Battleship Jesse Owens North Rec Center 11 a.m.–6 p.m. St. Thomas More Newman Center Noon–5 p.m. RPAC, Competition Pool 5:30–9 p.m. Dump & Run is a huge yard sale of reusable items, extending the life of items and reducing the amount of waste that goes straight into landfills. The proceeds go to local charities and student organizations that volunteer to fundraise. Collection of items begins in the spring, as students are moving out of the dorms. The items are sorted and stored over the summer in a local warehouse, and the sale is held in the fall during Welcome Week, where members from the campus and Columbus community are invited to participate. Tables will be set up in Jesse Owens North to display all the items, which will likely include televisions, clothes, shoes, athletic equipment, furniture, dorm supplies and more. Dump & Run provides goods to students, faculty, and community members to reuse at a very reasonable price. This event exemplifies the mission of Students for Recycling, which is to reuse and repurpose old products to reduce waste. All proceeds go to student organizations and to charities, and leftover items are donated to charitable organizations like the Salvation Army or Goodwill. Attendees will see how highly students value recycling and how important it is to reduce waste. Join the Catholic community for prayer before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament! Drop in anytime between noon and 5. Grab a canoe, suit up with a team of four, and try to stay afloat in the RPAC’s McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion during Intramural Battleship.
