Alongside familiar exhibitors including 3M Japan, Dainichiseika Color & Chemicals, and DAICEL, the event saw some new faces, including NIPPON SHOKUBAI and COSMO OIL, as well as the Kansai Converting Research Group, which is composed of local small and medium sized businesses from the Kansai region of Japan. Given that equipment is also essential for producing and processing optical and functional films, the exhibition hosted many equipment manufacturers. In this way, all of Japan's cutting-edge technologies—from materials to production—were on display. "Printable Electronics", a cutting-edge exhibition presenting all of the materials, processes, and equipment required for flexible and wearable electronics, also saw its largest scale to date. NOF CORPORATION, the winner of the 5th Printable Electronics Award, captured the attention of event visitors with its copper screen printing paste. The joint booth hosted by JAPERA, AIST, JAPEC and OE-A (3G-25) saw more activity than usual given its addition of a special flexible and wearable zone. During "3Decotech Expo", Japan's only exhibition specialized in decorative technologies, leading companies in decorative techniques, including Fu-se Vacuum Forming, Nissha Printing, Teikoku Printing Inks, NAVITAS, and ASANO LABORATORIES, debuted new products and technologies. Every booth at the exhibition was crowded by visitors daily, hinting at the high level of interest in the field. The 3D Surface Decoration Technology Open Seminar held during the second day of the event offered a keynote speech by Shohei Masui of the MTO Technology Office, as well as talks on design concepts and brand strategies from the user perspective by Mazda Motor Corporation and Shiseido, which included many examples of successful projects. Each session gathered the interest of 200-300 visitors, far exceeding the planned seating capacity and leaving many to stand and listen. 1 2016 Converting Technology Exhibition Special Area Next Generation Manufacturing Zone 5companies A special zone was offered for first time exhibitors and small/medium sized companies. Companies taking on the future of manufacturing come together! Converting Technology Consultation Area The event offered a converting technology consultation area manned by advisers with deep knowledge of the industry and broad personal networks. Many visitors came to the area with specific questions, including which companies to go to for certain processes and how they should handle specific problems. Kazuhiro Fukushima Promatequ Shohei Masui MTO Technology Office Yasuhiro Okada Society for Specialty Film J-techno Creation Special Exhibit Project for Flexible and Wearable Device 9companies This special exhibition area and seminar introduced the potential applications for printed electronics technologies in an easy to understand manner. The area served to provide a virtual experience of a society in the near future that may be realized through the application of printed electronics. Technology Social Gathering 111participants Companies involved in converting, functional films, and end users of these came together during a reception aimed at facilitating communication. The reception was attended by members of Society for Specialty Film (large-scale film producers/converters, etc.), exhibitors at neo functional material and 3Decotech Expo, and members of the Kansai Converting Research Group, as well as by visitors to the show who were interested in the industry. 2 Exhibitor List 3Decotech Expo A C D F H K M N R S T U W 3R-13 3R-20 3T-13 3N-19 3N-13 3R-22 3W-16 3T-22 3N-17 3W-20 3T-19 3U-16 3N-20 3W-19 3R-19 3P-17 3U-13 3P-16 3R-14 3W-17 3P-19 3X-16 3R-16 3W-13 3X-19 3N-16 3W-14 ASANO LABORATORIES Chiyoda Gravure DAIICHI JITSUGYO / Raysec FUK Fu-se Vacuum Forming FUTAMURA CHEMICAL HP Japan KATANI Kayoh Techno Plaza Meiwa Vendix MIMAKI ENGINEERING MISHIMA Ms'Systems Murata-Kimpaku NAGASE & Co., Ltd. / OKURA INDUSTRIAL NAVITAS NIHON ETCHING Nissha Printing Roland DG SANKYO PLUS SHOEI-CHEM / TAISEI SANGYOU / PLANET Technical Consultation Corner / CTI Teikoku Printing Inks Mfg.
