We just celebrated our 8th Anniversary of operations. Before that, however, many years of dreaming, planning, construction and preparation went into developing this facility and program on 168 acres of tranquility in Scottsville, Kentucky. Looking back, we are humbled to have created so many memory-making moments for our campers, families, volunteers, staff and donors. Our tagline, “We Prescribe Fun” became the mantra for many thousands of seriously ill and disabled children, wounded soldiers, paralyzed veterans, and family members. Additionally, our faithful volunteers numbering in the thousands ranged from church youth groups, to seniors, college students, physicians and nurses. Each has given their time, energy and commitment to lovingly care for the children, operate our program areas, and keep the campus looking beautiful. Yes, 2015 was another year of purpose and passion at CCK. Each year we add new programs and enhancements to this world-class facility. In addition to our very full schedule of weekend retreats and summer camps, CCK began hosting disabled adults and geriatric patients for weekday opportunities. We now partner with the Clinical Education Complex of Western Kentucky University to host weekends, day programming, and summer employment opportunities for children and young adults with Autism and multiple other conditions. We have become the annual spring venue for the Kentucky-Indiana Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America to prepare for the National Wheelchair Games. Inspiration abounds at The Center for Courageous Kids! Celebrating important milestones in 2015 involved our financial goals as well. It was a good year for CCK! We were thrilled to announce that we retired our construction debt and also raised over $1 million in contributions to this amazing program. CCK, with the steadfast support of the ETC Foundation, is on a solid financial footing with approximately an entire year’s operating expenses in the bank. Thank you for helping us. These are reasons to celebrate indeed! We do know why we continue to thrive even in the face of global economic challenges and uncertain financial climates. CCK’s world-wide reputation for excellence has grown because of a staff of consummate professionals, a steadfast focus and dedication to our mission, parents who trust us with their most precious gifts, volunteers who selflessly invest their time and talents and donors like you who continue to invest in the bravest individuals we know. We do not take this lightly. Annual reports allow us to reflect, celebrate, and be thankful. We are extremely thankful. Thank you for your critical and ongoing support. Due to generous contributions from individuals, special events, corporations, foundations, and our health partners we have never had to charge a camper or family a fee.
