refresh market preview
Refresh Market is back for a fifth time with more than 65 vendors offering handmade,
vintage and curated items for your home, wardrobe, little one or just because. The event
will also feature a festival-inspired fashion show with looks curated by Sarah Johnston and
Diane Rudge of Cleveland Avenue’s Wild and Heart, a boutique focused on effortless,
seasonally in-tune fashion that’s “a little gypsy, a little urban and a little vintage”.
We’ve rounded up a selection of this season’s must-have trends along with timeless
classics from participating designers and shops.

One of the most sensible shoes has gone from hippie to haute in a very big
way. Rachel Zoe, Anne Hathaway, Uma Thurman, Heidi Klum and the
Olsen twins are just some of the celebs that have been spotted wearing Birkenstocks,
the legendary footwear that celebrates the natural role of the foot. If you already
wear them, consider yourself ahead of the game, and keep them in your closet for
years to come. I only wish I’d kept mine. Available in sizes 6-10. Birkenstock Arizona, $124 at Fetish For Shoes, 38031 Cleveland Avenue, Squamish. 604.892.9057.

We are all about clean lines
and functional design, so it’s
no surprise we are huge fans of this
handmade collection of handbags and
small leather goods by local designer
Camille Graham. Each piece is handcrafted in her Brackendale studio
using natural and recycled materials.
This suede shopper is my everyday go
to for toting my phone, keys, wallet,
Altoids, glasses and lipstick. You know,
the important stuff. Suede bag, $35,

If you’re not totally ready to
embrace this season’s pastels,
these gold-plated druzy stud earrings
by local designer and metalsmith Justine Brooks just might do the trick. A
druzy is a coating of fine crystals over a
rock surface, commonly quartz. These
studs are small enough for everyday,
strong enough to make a statement
and, at this price, you’ll want to stock
up. Available in peach, turquoise, light
blue and black. Peach and Gold Druzy
Studs, $24, Justine Brooks Design,

Refresh Market takes place on Saturday
