How Cold Therapy Works

In order to understand how cold therapy works, it is important to understand what happens
when a person experiences pain and inflammation. With an injury, the blood vessels around
the injured tissues open up, rushing blood, nutrients and fluids to the area to trigger the natural
healing process. The problem with this reaction is that the increased blood flow often causes the
healthy tissues surrounding the injury to swell and become inflamed. Unfortunately, if swelling
and inflammation is not stopped or slowed, more extensive tissue damage may occur and the
injury may take longer to heal. Pain becomes a factor due to additional fluids in the swollen tissues pressing on nerves surrounding the injury site and trigger pain receptors to the brain.
What Does Cold Therapy Do?
At some point, everybody has been told to use cold therapy to address an injury (can be as
simple as placing a bag of ice on a bump, bruise or sore muscle). The question becomes, why?
The short answer: Cold therapy is the treatment of choice to regulate the body’s natural repair
mechanisms. It is typical prescribed for two primary reasons:
1.To control inflammation.
2.To moderate pain.
How does cold therapy work?
Cold therapy works on the basic principle of heat exchange. When a cooler object is put in direct
contact with an object that has a warmer temperature the cooler object will drive the heat out of
the area that it has direct contact with. Cold therapy is applied to an injury in order to reduce the temperature of the damaged tissue
area. This reduction in temperature causes a positive chain of events; first, the cells’ metabolic rate rapidly slows causing them to use
less oxygen, as the local blood vessels constrict, this aids in slowing the flow of fluids to the injury site and swelling is reduced. Cold
therapy is the key to reducing cell damage. By keeping more cells alive in the damaged area, bruising and fluid buildup is decreased.
Additionally, with fewer damaged cells to repair and rebuild, the injured area can recover faster. Pain is also reduced by the numbing
of the nerve receptors that send pain signals to the brain.
How does Cool’nTape® dramatically improve cold therapy?
Cool’nTape® dramatically improves the process of cold therapy with a proprietary hydro-gel technology that delivers cold and compression to the affected area. Cool’nTape® operates on a basic principle of drawing the appropriate amount of heat out of the injured area
without the risk of lowering the temperature too dramatically, which in turn can cause additional tissue damage in the affected area.

Optimal and Stable Cold Temperature - Cool’n Tape® has the
great advantage of maintaining a stable cold temperature in the

THREE (3) SOLUTIONS IN ONE - There is general consensus that cold application is a crucial component of the standard injury rehabilitation program – P.R.I.C.E. (Protection, Rest, Ice, Compression,
Elevation). Cool’n Tape® combines three (3) key elements of P.R.I.C.E. (Protect, Cold “Ice” and Compression).
INSTANT COOLING - Cool’n Tape’s unique hydro-gel system draws the heat from an affected area
at an accelerated rate and assists in reaching an optimal cooling temperature. In addition, the compression component enables the heat to dissipate at a more rapid rate due to direct skin contact. This
promotes the natural healing process in the body.
CONSISTENT COOLING TEMPERATURE - Cool’n Tape® is scientifically designed to operate at a cooling temperature between 15C/59F to 18C/65F degrees. This allows Cool’n Tape® to remain on the affected area for several hours, thus dramatically improving the natural healing process.
DRUG FREE PAIN AND INFLAMMATION RELIEF - Cool’n Tape® is cold therapy, an advancement of
non-drug solutions to reduce pain and inflammation. Why go through your stomach to target a sore

Take Cool’nTape® with you anywhere without the need to refrigerate or freeze the product. Remove the packaging and it is ready
to use. Wrap the affected area firmly without restricting the blood flow. Apply the Cool’nTape® wrap so it has the most direct surface
contact with the skin. Cool’nTape® self-adheres by overlapping end pieces and pressing firmly for a few seconds. A figure-eight
wrap should only be used to limit joint movement of the hand, elbow, knee or ankle.
Cool’nTape® can be applied multiple times per day depending on the severity of the affected area and may be worn for several
hours at a time. On average, consumers are using the wrap 2 to 4 times per day and wearing the Cool’nTape® wrap for 1 to 3 hours
per treatment. After each use, if needed, recharge your Cool’nTape® wrap by running it quickly under tap water making sure to remove any excess water or you can add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water (alternatively a single ice cube) inside the jar and close the lid.
Allow 2 to 3 hours for the Cool’nTape® wrap to rehydrate before reuse.

Brand Awareness
One new program is a webisode series called “The Training Insider”, this program specifically targets athletes and active consumers. The show will be a
documentary (interview style) of approximately 3 minutes in length and will
feature a top level athlete in varying sports. Our premiere episode features a
feather weight boxing champion, Logan Cotton “McGuinness”. We will show
him training and talking about the Cool’nTape® product and will also showcase
in-depth interviews with his personal trainer about how grueling the sport is
and how Cool’nTape® has helped him gain an edge in his sport.

Our Flagship product Cool’nTape® is an innovative product that
needs demonstrative and unique marketing techniques to capture
its audience. We have several new media programs that we are
launching in the fall of 2013 and into 2014.

In addition to featuring top-level athletes we also want to promote other professionals and active enthusiasts; One of our other focuses will be “On the Job”
professionals such as construction workers, stockers, warehouse personnel
and even computer engineers. Another theme will focus on family activities “the
enthusiast” such as the Soccer Mom, Dad mowing the lawn, kids running and
playing or even just a parent that received an injury cleaning out the garage.
These “webisodes” will help create a buzz and “show and tell” around our product and truly show the benefits and uses of Cool’nTape® without actually having
it demonstrated to them. Our branding program will always focus on consistency in visual media and in any point of sale material available for promotion so
consumers will immediately recognize our Cool’nTape® brand when they spot it
in their local market.
