BBQ Bison Burgers
Ingredients:
•
1 tbs. canola oil
•
1/4 c fresh garlic (minced)
•
1/4 c red onion (minced)
•
1/2 c portabella mushrooms
(sliced thin)
•
1 tsp. fresh thyme
•
1 egg
•
1/4 c breadcrumbs
•
2 tbs. brandy
•
3 tbs. BBQ sauce
•
1 tsp. creole seasoning
•
1 tsp. fresh cracked pepper
•
1 1/2 lb. ground bison
•
4 slices aged cheddar cheese
•
4 hamburger buns (toasted)
Directions:
•
In skillet, heat oil over medium heat; cook onion, garlic,
mushrooms, stirring often, until softened and golden, about
10 minutes.
•
Meanwhile, in large bowl, mix together egg, breadcrumbs,
brandy, BBQ sauce, thyme, creole seasoning and pepper.
•
Stir in onion mixture, then bison; mix until just combined.
Shape into four 3/4-inch thick patties.
•
Place patties on prepared grill over medium heat; close lid
and grill, turning once, until no longer pink inside and digital
thermometer inserted reads 160°F, about 10 minutes.
•
Place burgers in buns and top with cheese and your favorite
toppings.
