Away from the crowds and nestled in a preserve of
serenity and solitude, Serian’s Serengeti South camp
enjoys a unique vantage point over the staggering
spectacle of the wildebeest migration. We also share a
home with Hadzabe hunter-gatherers, living completely
traditionally and untainted by the touch of the outside
world. Cousins of the Kalahari bushmen, they share a
similar click-language as well as centuries-old bush lore
and an intimate symbiosis with their environment. Come
and experience their magical terrain as they guide you
through the bush that they call home.

Set on the edge of the short-grass plains that host the
wildebeest birthing season and all the predator action that
dogs on the heels of this movable feast, it’s hard to imagine
a more stunning backdrop to your adventure. Dramatic
storms sweep in new life, and babies and attendant
predators are everywhere.
Flora bursts forth, fields of wildflowers bloom, and the
striking contrast of Hadzabe cloth and beadwork against the
emerald background makes for a perfect palette. Settle into
your surrounds and get into the safari swing of things
before embarking on your walking adventure.

Hiking in the African bush might sound like hard work, but
in reality it is an adventure dictated entirely by your own
pace. Spend the days ambling and exploring, and arrive in
the evening at your custom-built flycamp: the stripped-back
simplicity of dome tents and dinner around the campfire.
Tracking is easy in the rich, alluvial soil, and your Hadzabe
guides will teach you to read the pug-marks and prints… as
well as how to harvest honey, light fires the real way, make
bows and arrows, and silently stalk your prey. Walking this
wild space, you will feel the opening of your senses,
sharpening in response to the immediacy of the wilderness:
vision, sound, smell all respond to the challenge of
perceiving and reading the primordial signals of the bush.
You will learn to see the landscape through the eyes of the
Hadzabe, immeasurably enhancing the richness of the way
you experience it. Enjoy the active participation of engaging
with your surrounds, and cultivate a fuller appreciation of
the myriad intricacies that make up the magic of the bush.

astronomy around the burning embers as you drink in the
nocturnal wonders of the cradle of mankind.

Head back to the luxuries of our main camp for a well-earned
break as you let the experience sink in. With your perceptive
capacities innately tuned to your environment, test your
newfound bush skills on game drives as you scan the horizon for
cheetah and wild dog among the wildebeest.

Leave in plenty of time for a leisurely game drive, and catch
at least one more spectacular sighting before boarding the
plane back home.
