The 2012 Marlin Softball Academy camps offer exceptional
softball instructional camps for young women of all ages, skill
levels, positions and abilities. All camps will be held at the
Virginia Wesleyan Softball Complex and a certified athletic
trainer will be on staff for each camp.

Marlin Softball Academy
Hitting Camp
This camp will provide beginner,
intermediate and advanced softball
hitting instruction. Campers will
receive instruction on proper hitting
mechanics through drills, tee work,
cage work and live batting practice. Campers will be
grouped according to age and ability.
Ages: 7-18
Time: 9am - 12pm Monday - Wednesday
Cost: $125 per Camper
Walk up registration fee is an additional $50
College Dreams Hitting Camp:

The College Dreams Hitting Camp is designed for rising 7th
graders through high school seniors. Several college coaches
from across the east coast will serve as clinicians for this
camp which is not only designed to teach but to showcase
player’s individual talents. The camp will cover advanced
hitting mechanics and drills used at the college level and
hitters will receive instruction through lectures, drills, tee
work, cage work and will have the opportunity to hit live
on the field. This camp is a great opportunity for players
who are interested in playing at the college level to not
only improve their hitting but to showcase themselves to an
exceptional staff of college coaches.

catcher’s equipment (catchers only), sun block, water

This camp will provide beginner, intermediate and advanced
softball instruction for athletes ages 7-12. Players will
focus on developing proper hitting, throwing and fielding
techniques. Groups will be formed according to age
and ability. Campers will receive a free camp t-shirt, play
live competitive games partake in “Wet Wednesday” and
participate in the annual camp wide skills competition.

The Future Dreams Pitching Camp is designed for athletes
who want to improve their pitching skills through Fluid
Mechanics. Denny Tincher, father of Virginia Tech star and
National Player of the Year Angela Tincher, will direct the
camp and with Fluid Dynamics pitching, the emphasis will
be on utilizing the female body in the way it was designed
so that it can build energy from the ground upward and
allow the free flow of energy from the legs to the fingertips.
Pitchers will learn and improve on the bio-mechanics of
pitching, how each body part contributes to the pitch and
incorporate these lessons through drill work that improve
accuracy and speed. Pitchers will also be given advanced
instruction on finding the change up that works best for
them, the screwball and the importance and development
of a solid rise ball. Pitchers will also be introduce to Denny’s
“100 Days to Greatness” pitching program. Pitchers should
provide their OWN catcher.
