When I was growing up,
my mom would have the Carpenter’s Christmas Carol playing.
Everywhere we were, the car, the
kitchen, getting ready for school,
decorating the tree, everywhere.
She loves that album and I catch
myself playing it for my kids as we
do the same activities throughout
the holidays.
A few of the My Place
traditions we have come to love
as a staff include our Christmas
party, secret Santa, and cookie
exchange. We even get surprise
visits from our elf on the shelf
“Link”. He is also up to mischief
and projects in the classrooms.
Christmas to me is
about relationships. It is a time to
reflect on the significant events
that happened over the course of
the year. It’s a time of faith and
magic. It’s a time for family,
friends, giving, and gratitude!
Due to the incredible
generosity of the Community
Foundation of Elmira-Corning and
the Finger Lakes, Inc., My Place
has been awarded a grant to update our child management software. This is a huge leap forward
for the center. It will allow for
parents and staff to have an electronic sign in, create customer
related forms, text and email
clients, and so much more. We
are still in the beginning phases
of rolling out this software.
You will receive more information specific to parents
around the first of the year.
The front door has
been repaired and is now
locked. You will need a confidential parent or staff key code
to enter the building. Please
see Amy or I to obtain this
code. All visitors and guest, can
ring the bell and be buzzed in.
Please do not share this code.
As we wrap up the
year we are busy prepping for

Happy Holidays everyone! The
babies have been active this month practicing their sign language and creating art with
different mediums including markers, crayons, and paints. We have welcomed new
friends and transitioned our great big 18
month old, Henry up to the toddler room. If
you see us playing in the window stop by
and say hello. We love visitors and it helps
us learn new social skills.
Just reminder: Please check
your child’s cubby for
treasured artwork, receipts,
soiled items to be washed.,
ect.

Wow! December already?! Toddler friends have been very
busy already this month learning about The Gingerbread Man. We read
the story and continued our learning by making our own Gingerbread
people! The kids loved this activity...especially the glitter and glue!!
We have also started December with the color GREEN! You can
reinforce this at home as it is the perfect time of year! We have many
fun and exciting things happening this month! We will be reading many
holiday stories and making lots of fun projects!!
Our friend Landon has moved up to Preschool! We'll miss you buddy
but we know you will do great! We will be welcoming Henry from the
Infant room and can't wait to show him all of our fun toys and routines!
We wish everyone a joyous holiday with family and friends!

December is here!! We have lots of fun planned
in Preschool this month! We are planning a
field trip for all the children to enjoy! I am so
excited! Snowflakes, Gingerbread man, Winter
animals, decorations to be done! Who doesn’t
love Christmas?! Get ready to hear Christmas
music in your cars also because, we will be singing our hearts out with Christmas songs and
doing lots of activities to kick off our Christmas
spirit! Don’t forget we love to read! Some of
our favorites are The night before Christmas,
Rudolph the Red nose Reindeer, Pete the Cat
and many more!. I hope you all have a Happy

The Ithaca Science and Discovery Center field trip was a blast!
Thank you Montour Falls Library for hosting our Preschool!
Preschool was able to see and touch assorted animal furs and shells. They learned about different
animal habitats and hibernation. When asked what skunks do in the winter, Callan replies “they stink”!

Please remember your snow gear
when visiting us during school breaks.
We love being outside in the snow
throughout the day! All the more
reason for hot chocolate inside! We
will also be busy crafting, gaming,
creating, and making friends.
