January 1– center closed February 7-Moose Club Breakfast When I was growing up, my mom would have the Carpenter’s Christmas Carol playing. Everywhere we were, the car, the kitchen, getting ready for school, decorating the tree, everywhere. She loves that album and I catch myself playing it for my kids as we do the same activities throughout the holidays. A few of the My Place traditions we have come to love as a staff include our Christmas party, secret Santa, and cookie exchange. We even get surprise visits from our elf on the shelf “Link”. He is also up to mischief and projects in the classrooms. Christmas to me is about relationships. It is a time to reflect on the significant events that happened over the course of the year. It’s a time of faith and magic. It’s a time for family, friends, giving, and gratitude! Due to the incredible generosity of the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes, Inc., My Place has been awarded a grant to update our child management software. This is a huge leap forward for the center. It will allow for parents and staff to have an electronic sign in, create customer related forms, text and email clients, and so much more. We are still in the beginning phases of rolling out this software. You will receive more information specific to parents around the first of the year. The front door has been repaired and is now locked. You will need a confidential parent or staff key code to enter the building. Please see Amy or I to obtain this code. All visitors and guest, can ring the bell and be buzzed in. Please do not share this code. As we wrap up the year we are busy prepping for What’s the scoop on: Scholastic Books– Order any time!
